Default Lifting L92's a tad, LSA heads next best thing? (cost wise)

So I'm pretty sure I was lifting my heads a little bit this season, not pushing any water that I can tell but building pressure in the cooling system when letting off after a pull. Started with a Stant 16lb cap on my reservoir which is aluminum and later in the season it started to pop/ping after a WOT pull, upped that to a 18lb and well now its got a 22lb doing the same thing lol?? I'm running L92 heads, ARP studs and LS9 gaskets, what would be my next option on a budget?? I was thinking of running some LSA heads with the newer CA625 head studs (if they are worth 700 bucks!!)?? Just looking for some opinions, thanks in advance!

Not sure how much boost you are running but I'd say an aftermarket head with 3/4" deck is your next best bet. After that it's a 6 bolt block. The ARP head studs are MORE than enough.

How much boost are you pushing? Are you sure the heads and block are perfectly flat?
LSAs and ARP head studs would be the next step. But as mentioned above, you might be better off in the long run to get an aftermarket .750" deck head.

Was peaking 18psi at times on pump gas with 2 of the big meth injection nozzles (50/50). Block and heads were machined by my uncles machine shop ??

Was trying to stay square port because of the Holley hi ram but I could always buy the cathedral port lower. This is my setup:

Heads will stay down better with straight meth. I'd try that first.

Ok, figured my 91 pump gas has a lot to do with it too, any upgrades to the meth kit needed? I am running the lower pressure snow pump too, good idea to upgrade to the 200 psi pump?

You might make sure that your kit can handle a more aggressive mix actually. Not sure if they certify their kits for 100% methanol.

I'd go aftermarket head.

And hot damn that that thing looks awesome.

Sounds like you are on the right track. How fine (smooth) was the finish on the heads and block? It's best to be as smooth as possible for most MLS gaskets (surface RA). Trickflow does have those newer rectangle port heads now also.

Going to have to check those out! Block and heads looked great when done, I'd have to ask what the surface RA was.

How much timing are you trying to run at said 18 psi?

That was going to be my question. Cylinder pressure is what lifts the head, its not a cut and dry boost level that does it.
