Love the car!!!! Perfect lines!

Hate that your going Auto. But, it will 1/4 much faster (obviously). I would love to here an honest review about how you feel about the swap to auto at the end of the season as far as driver enjoyment.

Yes and the answer i got from everyone was that OD is for cruising only. Not a single builder would put a number on it. They basically deemed it Taboo.

Its not the power level that is the issue... It is the shift from 3 to 4 at very high rpm the transmission builders don't like...

With stock guts it held around 700 whp in od fine for me.

I never have such luck with anything I've owned. I didn't want to be constantly worrying about a $5k transmission possibly failing. For the 7ish grand it cost me for the glide and OD unit I bought a guarantee and piece of mind.

Seems like a wise move to me.

Did you happen to get a weight for the Powerglide/GV combo? Looks like it's probably around 40-50lbs lighter than a 4L80E.

make your full power runs in 3rd. the od will only take so many hard upshifts as it's not designed for it and can only be beefed so much

I've made a 4l65e live at 800 at the tire with careful driving in 4th

biggest problem is aggressive throttle that forces a downshift

if you need to go fast, slow down, shift to 3rd, and let er rip

od won't gain you a thing beyond the repairs

I'm looking forward to hearing how the glide/gv set up works. My motor is finally starting to take shape and will hopefully be running n/a by the end of summer. I'd like to try getting into the 9's before adding the charger/chargers so I'll leave the 4l80 in for now.

Im excited to get it going. The GV unit shipped yesterday and shows to be at my door step Monday. I still cant believe this tiny *** Transmission is capable of holding 1200+ HP

BTW does anyone know the thread sizes for the in/out ports on the housing? Also which one is input/output?

I've been looking at them and some of the HP capabilities are crazy. I had no idea that the transmission I hated in my old Impala SS that I bought for $125 back in 1973 would be on my wish list 40 years later. Well, not exactly the same.

Update: Motor is back together and waiting to go back in. GV unit is on the truck for todays delivery.

While i was waiting i started to redo my my fuel system as i had eBay rubber/SS braid fuel lines. I felt like this was a ticking time bomb especially since ive been running E85 a lot more lately. A friend of mine gets distributor pricing from AeroFlow in AUS so i ordered a bunch of Black anodized Aluminum tubing so i could re do my long straights. I also went ahead and ordered some black Teflon hose to connect to the motor and cover some of the tricky areas. I have to say that Aluminum is AWESOME to work with.. The **** bends anyway i want and flares are just a joke.. The stuff is awesome to work with. I will get some updated pictures soon but rest assured there is progress in the back ground. Oh and I also switch to solid motor mounts.

So I guess it's 1-2 for the track and then you can use OD1-OD2 (3-4) for street driving? That's pretty cool.

1-od-2-od it is essentially a 4 speed W/OD at this point. Difference here being that i can actually go WOT in OD. Im going to try and find a 4:10 or even shorter rear gear to utilize these OD capabilities as much as possible.
