Ebay Turbo kit build thread 02 TA
I started this thread on the car club website VegasLSx.com and decided to post here to. Purchased off of ebay the CX Racing 98-02 NO A/C turbo kit. Arrived on 3-6-14 and started the basic bolt up. #2 plug is too tight, pass. side exhaust header needs to be modded. Power steering lines can be bent out of the way, Trans lines can be moved out of the way easy. Drain back is short and simple, so far? The LS1 engine is built with off-the-floor parts. The block was in a car wreck and broke the lower alt. bolt mounting location $100.00 and another members stock rotating assembly $75.00, bottle honed with used rings and bearings. Cam is a Precision 214 232 118 grind with .600 lift. Heads are ported and milled .010" with 2.02 & 1.57 PEP valves. O.E. head gaskets and China head studs. Stock LS1 intake manifold & Throttle body. Precision 78mm turbo .96 with ebay intercooler and 48mm Turbosmart Pro-gate.

Finished the oil feed line today. Took the kit off to wrap. My son Anthony programmed the ECU with a custom operating system using EFI Live and 2 bar MAP. We tuned it before starting the turbo kit installation. Needed a 3' line but purchased a 4' line, so its routed back and loops around and comes forward.

You would have to remove or loosen the header to change #2. I may re-work that #2 tube to fix..... I will get drivers side pictures posted soon.

#2 header plug wire
You just loosen all the bolts and pull the header back to get the #2 spark plug installed. I am going to cover the spark plug wire with Thermal wrap. Looks like #2 is going to be a hot spot. Moving on to the rest.

Using valet as a 2 step
Fired it up yesterday and tested the 2 step rev limiter at 2800 rpm. The down pipe dumps at the cat, still need to finish the ex. for an idle video.

I'll be interested to see how this runs with the ebay setup. I have a built 6.0 to put in my Camaro and have been wanting to start aquiring parts for the turbo build. I was wondering how the quality would be on this stuff.

Tig welder
I purchased a water cooled tig welder to finish the exhaust in house. All I need to do is remount the wastegate. The Turbosmart 48mm pro gate was bigger then what the kit was designed for. I should be ready for the first drive today!

I am running the same old converter as you. Have you made any dyno pulls or have any track times yet? Did you stand up the radiator to fit that BIG Turbo? Where does your exhaust exit?

Used a brass pipe fitting 4" long, threaded on both ends and cut it to extend out past the edge of the oil pan, its about 2.5" long. It is a short run from there to the turbo drain flange with braided line.

Spark plug access.
I used a header flange as a spacer on the pass. side header and everything worked out great. Been driving around on 7# of boost and can't wipe the smile off my face.
I am buying the piping and building my own kit on a forged 377 LS in a 97 S10 ext cab 3665# race weight.
Just took the exhaust system off and getting busy on it today. My best ET N/A 11.86 with a 1.68 60' was with a high mile LQ9 with the stock truck intake and stock exhaust manifolds, ported 317 heads 234 242 114 cam. Turbo 350 trans 3:73 28" M/T.
