Be sure NOT to use the starter to bump the engine over so the piston hits the piston stop. You'll either bend the stop and not get it out, or you'll break the piston. Also, to be safe, pull the rockers off the number one cylinder. It's possible that the valves could come down and hit the stop and bend them. Also, as stated, cam timing can be off by a ton. I put a cam in a gen 1 sbc that was custom ground from a well known cam grinder and it was off 9 degrees!!! To many variables that can change it a little here and there. That's something to look into over the winter as you're kind of pressed for time to get back to the track. Good luck. Awesome build/car!

Thanks for the info guys. I leaned her out to 11.2afr and put 2 degrees in it everywhere for a total of 14@ 7psi. I went out and tried it off the transbrake in the street and it kills the tires so it feels much better. I might be going to the track on Sunday to try it out. I know the mph is there for the low boost but I really want it to 60' at least 1.5 for now. It has a really nice suspension setup I just need the power to utilize it.

You'll get her to go. I still think you could use a ton more timing. If you go by the "half to one degree per psi of boost" rule, you should still be around 20ish degrees of timing at 7 psi. Take it slow, you'll get there. I like the 11.2 way better than the 10.8 afr. Seemed way fat with very little timing. I'm sure that had a ton to do with the soft 60'. Keep us posted. Good luck

This car is heavy cause it's all steel full interior bench seat etc. add in the cage and all the turbo ****, intercooler, cal tracs, fuel system, electric trans cooler, etc. adds up fast! I think the only lighter weight stuff is the wheels and aluminum exhaust. Id like to weigh it again somewhere else because I think it weighs more then what that scale showed.

Weighed mine on race scales. 3380 with me in it. Glass bumpers, hood, 1 seat, no heater, lexan pass side, glass drivers door only. So I'm cheating. But, it is what it is. Novas that are all steel aren't as light as most think they should be.
Turbo ****, love it! :-)

saw something cool on a nova a buddy was building, instead of rear shackles, the rear of the leaf spring just slid in this bracket-they were split mono's, not sure if it was done to lower it-had new frame rails
was a pretty cool setup
