Default flycutting and boost?

I did a search and can see that people generally say not to flycut with boost or nitrous. Has anyone actually done it and what were the results? I can't see how I can get away with not notching my pistons on my combo. Lq9 with lsa heads. Waiting on an adjustable pushrod to verify how much needs to be cut, but I believe it is going to be about .060 on the intake side. Exhaust is fine. I thought about custom pistons, but between the machine work and pistons, its about $2000. So looking for some real answers about flycutting first. Thanks

Of course you can do it and it, but any material you remove will weaken the piston. Generally not a good ideal with big power boost setups. You didn't provide much information about your setup to give a better answer.

What kind of power goals did you have in mind? What pistons are you wanting to cut? What fuel are you running? Compression? Cam specs?...etc.

I would just run a different can with a little later IVO

Gonna make for some nasty hot spots on the piston.

My pistons were flycut, but nothing major. I'm running the Brute Speed blower cam and around 11# with the F1A. I've been using 93 octane w/ 100 meth. So far, so good!

I thought about switching to the brute speed blower cam because of the later IVO, but I still don't think that will give me enough clearance. I have a ysi going on this motor, so my guess would be somewhere around 800hp and 14lbs of boost. Really depends on how small of a pulley I can get.

Use a smaller lift cam or run a larger HG and slightly more boost. Should easily be able to hit your goal without fly cutting IMO.

Thanks. I guess I will look into a different cam to start with. It seems like it isn't the lift that is the problem though. It appears to be more of a problem with opening the intake valve too soon and the amount of overlap that the cam has.
