Default derale fan guys! 30 or 40amp fuses needed?

Wired in with relays what r u guys running to keep the system safe?

I have heard some swapping to 40 amp fuses but what is needed to keep the fans fail safe considering they draw 24amps smh lol and thats each for those that dont know.

I wired in my own relays and using the pcm trigger wires to the fans to operate at low and high speeds.

Mine had 20 amp guess in em and the fuses didn't blow but it actually melted the plastic fuse holder derale provided. Cut em out and put summit ones in and it blew both the 20 and 25 amp fuses I tried. 30 amp seems to work just fine.

Mine is wired in the same way using stock pcm triggers fyi.

Which one did you go with from summit? Part number?

Hard to beat the stock fans. At 24 amps each, with 2 fans that's almost half of the stock charging systems max capacity. Don't leave much for larger fuel pumps and other things
required to support extra HP.

So keeping stock would work on Huron speed turbo ac retaining kit?

I'm not familiar with the HS kits.
I do notice that every time there's a thread about a turbo car over heating or what fans to buy or a thread like this, the stock fans have been replaced with something else and/or the stock radiator and the plastic air ducting in the nose of the car has been removed.

It's like all your buddy's eat at the same Chinese restaurant because it's cheap, and all of them get sick. But the price is so inviting, but is it worth getting sick?

stock fans arent always an option. pretty sure this thread was about wiring a couple aftermarket fans. almost a decent job staying on topic...

It's more than just the fans, it's the entire cooling system that works as a system that needs to be left in-tacked. Yea it's off topic. I bet the OP would
rather be posting his track times than what to do about a fuse holder.

The fuse holder is not the issue here, it's the engineering of the system or the lack there of.

I'll help the OP. Here is a link to a Delphi fuse holder rated at 30 amps.
If that isn't enough they have Maxi fuse holders rated at 60 amps.

It's definitely the fuse holders. They come with 30a fuses, but they don't pop the fuse and melt the **** out of the holder. I'm assuming due to shitty contacts inside. I replaced mine with the rubber autozone fuse holders and never popped a fuse, it doesn't get hot, zero problems since.

Quick Reply: derale fan guys! 30 or 40amp fuses needed?
