Doubt they would lasted long at 3200lbs at those levels... esp with the T-brake. The glide in Stock48’s 3400lb nova is a good example. It didn’t last long at his power levels and he launched it on the foot brake nice and easy at low boost.

So from what research I have done it seems that the various first gear ratios also have various strength levels. I see some have 1.80, 1.76, 1.69 and I guess it gets stronger as you go lower in the ratio (or higher depending on how you say it). So what 1st gear ratio is going to be a nice strong ratio? So I guess what you are saying is put that thing on a serious diet or get an aftermarket case.

I have a glide and I love it. That is coming from a guy with a 4000lb with me in it car. I bought a stock 1969 glide out of a Chevelle. Took it Hughes (they are local to me) told them to put in a billet input shaft, billet clutch basket, upgraded clutches, shift kit, deep pan, and even keep the vaccum shifting.
I recently went to the track. It ran 11.16 @130 with 1.85 sixty foot. I had a APS TT 4.8 with a 8 inch continental turbo 4300 converter it the car. The weight and lack of torque hurt the 60 foot, but the MPH was good for a little motor that cranked out 603 hp and 527 lbs of tq.
I pulled the glide back out of the car, it is now getting a MVB, and a brake. That and a 6.0 with a PT76 GTS, and A2W intercooler.
I drive my glide on the freeway quite a bit. At 2800 rpm, on a 28 inch tall tire, and 3.42's it rolls right along at 63 ish mph...... In a high horsepower car, I dont think there is another option in my book.
Get one and dont look back.

I would suggest a 1.80 straight cut planetary. At your power level the stock 1.76 are hit and miss. I have seen some go 5 teens in the 1/8 and I have seen some scatter the trans and case running 6.20's. They are the best bang for the buck and will last as long as you own the car. 8 clutches in high gear will hold all you want to put through them. I still prefer the 9.5 PTC converter in every small block combo you can imagine. They just flat out work and will also take as much power as you want to throw at them.

From what I remember.
I bought the glide stock out of a running car for $300.
I took it to Hughes and paid about 750 ish for everything I listed above.
So as the trans sits, $1050?
Add a MVB and Transbrake, probably another $500 ish......
So for a 900 hp rated trans less than $1700

The 1.76 will be hit and miss at that level, mine lasted a while then knocked some teeth out
I wouldn't be worried abou a stock case with an ultrabell
All you need is a TB/valvebody setup, correct input shaft/pump mods, good high clutch hub, and some frictions added in the high pack and it will be fine
No reason to have anyone build it, a monkey is capable of doing a glide, size the converter feed to the input shaft setup, set clutch clearances and endplay and run
9.5 all the way

Also do some research about line pressure and thrust bearing failures. The glides do build line pressure and push the converter foward and knocking out the thrust bearing. Get with Hutch at Hutch Transmissions and discuss the by pass he has made to fix this problem.

With a glide it's easy to mis-match the input shaft and pump which can cause excessive converter pressure. A properly built glide will have between 40-80psi cooler line pressure where the T-400 will be over 100psi. When a glide is built, it needs to be built by someone familiar with the different pump and input shaft combo's. You have ringed or ringless input shafts. Some use a stator support bushing while others do not. It needs to be right for the trans and converter to work properly together.
