I just picked up a never used turbonetics y2k 80mm. A friend of mine has had this turbo sitting in his garage in a box for a few years. He said he paid a little over $3000 for it. I just got it for $2500! It's rated for 1200hp so I should have no problem making 600hp. Can anyone recommend hot side parts? I'll have to get rid of the LG longtubes that came on the car. Also, can anyone recommend a good tuner in the Tampa Bay area?
^^That's what I was thinking. I paid way less than that for my brand new billet S-480 and it's 1300 rwhp capable (1.10 a/r). Plus that's an old turbo...
+3....for 600hp there are cheaper turbos that have produced the results you are looking for. Not many people use that turbo any more as there are other options including some with improved technology. If it gives you any indication, my friends LS1 turbo 240sx made over 600rwhp on 12 psi using a PTE 7175 (I believe) and reached your 600hp goal.
I just purchased a new Y2k 88mm and received it yesterday! Very Nice piece! I also paid $600.00 less than the OP for mine... and I'm shooting for 1000 rwhp...
In the grand scheme of these cars $2500 actually isn't that much to spend on a turbo, every person who uses a Procharger or Whipple or any blower for only 600hp pays more than $2500 for the head unit. How does that make any more sense? Its a BB turbo, thats why they are $$$.
Ive considered buying a PT8847 before and they cost the same, and my **** definitely doesn't NEED a PT8847, but who cares.
