Default which intercooler

Which intercooler are you guys running? I'm sure its been covered but I cant find much. Its a procharged car that will likely upgrading my D1 to a f1a or c. The 370 is in the machine shop as we speak so looking at other things to upgrade such as my 3" ebay intercooler. Should I just upgrade to the 4" ebay intercooler like I see people run or is there a much better one for similar to slightly more? I'm looking at making 900ish. Thanks guys.

Have you checked out the Treadstone intercoolers? Someone posted in a similar thread about how much better the Treadstone one is over the e-bay ones.

I just swapped out the 31x12x4 EMusa cooler for a treadstone $500 unit. I did an ls1 to ls6 intake swap at the same time, but picked up almost 5mph at the same boost levels. My intake temps dropped quite a bit and I'm assuming the pressure drop across the core is much better. I wouldn't bother going the the larger china core. I'd go with the TS unit if your upgrading. Same dimensions as the china core, I literally dropped the old IC and popped this one into place.

My vote goes to treadstone too. Hard to beat the quality and performance for $500ish. You'll find a few nay Sayers but those guys have no real experience with them.

Sounds like treadstone is the way to go. Thanks guys! I knew my 3" ebay one wasn't going to cut it for my needs.

I'm running a Treadstone cooler now also. Don't have any data yet though. The only obvious downside is that the cast end tanks make them a little heavier than they need to be.

18lbs for the EMusa

29lbs for the Treadstone

The TS .5" thicker and taller, but I was surprised how heavy it was.

We can offer a slightly larger unit with a Spearco core. Core measures 28 x 13 x 5.1 and is rated to 1250+.

We can have them done with 3", 3.5" or 4" inlet/outlets.

Good read. I need to pick up a FMIC of some kind for my LQ4/4L80E procharger build that's about to be underway.

Force,

It looks like you have a different type of core with the EMUSA vs the Treadstone. Was the EMUSA a bar and plate job or a bar and fin?

EMusa is a tube and fin design. They generally cool the air better but have a higher pressure drop. TS is bar and plate.
