Default 5.3 questions

I have a 5.3 lm7 not sure what year exactly, was going to put it in my 01 camaro since my motor popped. I had a few questions.

What am I going to have to do to make the motor work in my car? I read something about switching to a different timing cover? anything else?

What heads should I use i have my stock ls1 heads with brian tooley racing springs, or should i keep the stock 706's and swap the tooley springs to those heads?

I have a comp ls1 timing chain and melling high volume oil pump will both of these work?

Stock rockers fine?

I also have a brute speed blower cam im going to be throwing in and the ls6 intake as well

I'm going to be using the huron speed turbo kit and im shooting for 600whp, My car is an m6. Thanks for any help

You will have to swap the oil pan from the ls to the 5.3 as well as windage tray and the tube.. Everything else will work fine. I'm doing the same thing and wish someone could chime in about the reluctor wheels. Do they have to be swapped on the crank?

The crank reluctor wheel is the same.

Need to use the F body pan, windage tray, and pick up tube as mentioned.

Also need to use the accessories including the balancer from the LS1 as the the LM7 truck stuff is different.

The Iron block will have 1 outer accessory hole missing that can either be drilled and taped or just left off. Some say its no big deal.

From what I have gathered asking around a few sources is that the LM7's are all 24x reluctor wheel. I have an 05 and though it has the newer style timing chain and rod design it still has a 24x reluctor wheel.

With my previous Fbody accessory drive I chose to tap the block for the extra mounting point just to play it safe.

I word use your 241 heads and also ls9 gaskets. Timing chain you have will work fine and oil pump. I drilled and tapped the block bolted alternator up just fine. Its all pretty easy really.

LM4 Aluminum 5.3L was available from 03-04
L33 Aluminum 5.3L was only available from 05-07 classic GMT800

They all would be a 24 tooth reluctors.

Any Generation 3 motor from 1997-2007 will have a 24 tooth reluctor. End of story.

It's the generation 4 motors that differ.

Such as the early LS2 engines that came with a 24 tooth reluctor in certain applications such as the Trailblazer SS. Not sure about corvettes...
