help with borg warner turbos

going to order a new borg turbo, just a little confused about the designations on FI's site. i see alot of references to "s476r" whats the r stand for? on FI's site there are also turbos with "etr-ho" after them, not sure what that stands for. also hear people refering to the "gangsta" s476, whats the difference? im leaning towards an s476 with the 83mm turbing in a 1.25 t4 housing. debating getting the race cover. it will be going on a stock 5.3 with a lil jon specd cam, stock heads, proflo intake, th400 with a brake, probably 3.49 gears, truck will weigh about 3000 lbs. hoping to make 7-850hp at the wheels. the 83 turbine was recommended to me because i want fast spool for the street, do you guys think its going to choke on my motor? leaning torwads this turbo after seeing how well stock48's nova ran with it. i would be perfectly happy with 8's at 150 plus. thanks for any info guys!

Dont over think it. An s475-480 with an 83mm turbine is fairly cheap and will make your power goals just fine with proper cam and tune. Don't worry about the billet or ETR wheels or race covers. A box stock s475/83 will make 750whp on a 5.3.

yeah there is just a ton of options based on tons of different applications

jose is the man (dr turbo) on ls1tech

you figure out your goals and what you want and he can fill in the blanks

ive used the s475, s476r(etr ho billet v3) S480cast, s480billet (v2 and v3) and now the S484 billet and batmowheel versions

and they are all fantastic haha

I did call and ended up purchasing one from FI. we decided my best bet was an s476r billet, 83mm turbine t4 1.25 housing. I was still just a bit confused. I don't think I talked to jose tho. the guy told me the 'r' in s476r just stands for race cover, which I decided I wanted just for the 3" slip fit. he said mine would be considered an s476r etr-ho. does the etr just designate the billet wheel? whats the 'ho'? and I keep reading about the 'gangsta turbo', but cant find anything describing it. would just like to be informed about what I bought lol. he said it will do what I need, and the 83mm wheel will spoll nice and quick for the street, yet will still make the power im looking for, thanks for any more imput guys!
