Default What forged rods/pistons for a 5.3l?

I bought a 5.3l awhile back that is going to need bored atleast .010 and I'm thinking about going .020 so I can use Wiseco pistons (Part# K474M965). Are these a good choice and what rods shoud I use? I plan to be in the 750-800rwhp range with the abilitly to go higher.

i had custom diamond 3.800 pistons made from kyle at thompson motorsports when he did my motor. He now has like 200 sets. these are what i would use. I also used his h beam rods.

Whats turbo you using? I'm going to order those pistons soon but need to figure out what brand rods to get. Ill be happy with 800rwhp so sounds like I should be fairly conservative.

Made over 800 easy on a 7175. Rear mount so not apples to apples. But the potential is there.

If you are going to have it machined in the first place to have it cleaned up i would go ahead and go to a 3.903 bore. The pistons are almost the same exact cost and it opens up some aftermarket heads choices with that bore size. We use quite a bit of Wiseco here and I would look into our TSP Super H-beam rod myself. Let us know if you would like to get anything going or if you have any questions.

Thanks
Derek

I wanted to keep the 7675 as efficient as possible so i didnt want cubes. I also want the block to be as strong as possible. Last i wanted the most deck surface to keep the heads down. I also like being a little different.

We have them in stock in 3.800" 5.3+.020 as well as 3.902" -2 and -10. They are $699 pistons only or $799 piston and ring combo. We also have a killer H-beam for $489 with ARP 8740 or $589 with 2000s. We can get you the parts or build you the whole short block like ZGLASS. Let us know if we can help in any way.

Thank you for the plug ZGLASS, Glad to hear you are still getting amazing results and having some fun along the way.

This is the route I think I'm going.

I'll give him a call. Seems like alot of people go to him for boost camshafts.

I have to bore it the .020 to clean up the block from water setting on the pistons. Ideally I didn't want to bore it any.
