Bell Intercoolers
Bell Intercoolers I was just about to purchase a Bell horizontal 24x12x4.5 intercooler to replace my CXracing 4" intercooler but they list it at only flowing 729cfm. For the price I thought it would flow a lot more than that. From the flow numbers it doesn't seem worth the cost to change my CX unit. I may look into a vertical flow unit but really did not want to change out my piping. Does anyone feel that it would be worth changing.

I think I miss understood their CFM ratings. I believe it's 1 psi drop per 729 cfm. In that case this intercooler is exactly what I'm looking for cause at my power level I shouldn't lose no more that 1.5-2 psi.
Straight from Bell Intercoolers is that there is only 1 psi drop per 10 psi of boost. So I should be looking at a 1.5 psi drop or less. They are VERY expensive though when you have them build you one. I almost said f@#! that lol. I see why people stick to the eBay cooler.

Motor is a positive displacement pump. flow volume (cfm) doesn't change entering the engine aside from changes in VE
It is the density ratio that is changing from boost to Na
Take a 370 at 6500rpm and 85% VE. Motor will consume ~600cfm through the throttle body
Now take same situation at 15psi manifold pressure. Motor is still consuming same 600cfm through throttle body. It is just at twice the density
1200cfm entering the turbo..... Still only 600cfm through the ic and throttle body

$1250 with shipping and my end tank design.
I just found a Garret 24x12x4.5 core for $450 and some weld on end tanks for $135 and it looks like they will fit my application. The core is rated at 950hp. If i could find someone here in MI to weld it up I would save possibly $550 with added labor cost. How does Garret compare to Bell?
