Default fi new motor break in ?

well my new engine should be finished by the weekend (ls1speed) and was wonder what some of you guys did for break in. I was thinking maybe waiting to put the charger on, to keep the pressure off the rings until they break in, maybe im a worry wart but ahwell better safe then sorry also on a side note the xb-1a system might be for sale soon so i can swap over to a f1 ati setup.

thanks

We dynoed my car with like 3 miles on it. I don't use any oil. I have a LS1 Speed 348ci with Diamond 6.0 heads.

Same here, basically. With my new 360" motor we ran it for 10 minutes idling to clean any crap out of there, changed the oil, and started running it. Got it on the dyno did a light pull up to 6000 and let off, letting the engine decellerate on its own. This supposedly helps seat the rings very nicely. A few pulls like this, did some tuning, and off I went. About an hour later I ran 30+ pounds of boost through the motor, and it's running fine doesn't use any oil, very smooth, compression numbers are 129-129-130-128-129-129-131-129, and i've put about 800 miles on it. I honestly think running it like this is the way to go, breaking it in slowly for a thousand miles sounds like horseshit to me.

modern ring sets seat nearly instantly.. I put my new motor in my car, ran it for about 20 minutes under varying RPM and light load, changed the oil, and went out to beat on it.. 13k miles later its still perfect Granted its a mild street/nitrous motor, but same principles apply.

Yea, we put about 10-15 miles on my motor before ripping it on the dyno w/the supercharger, I've put more miles on the motor since, probably under 1000 total....

The oil and plugs are changed and its ready to hit the dyno as soon as I get my pulleys in the mail

Same here.
I drove home after dropping in the new block (about 30 miles), changed back to Mobil 1, and let her rip. No extensive break-in required.

I ran Pennsoil for the inital 20 minutes (throw-away oil), Castrol 10W40 for the first 1k miles, then switched to Mobil 1 10W30. Been running that ever since. I'll be switching to 15W40 soon for the summer months.
