Default Heads for FI

I am seeing 450 rwhp with 5# and my Stage II 5.3L heads. Probably a bit more once the fuel is taken care of. My goal as you well know is 500 rwhp.

Can I reach that goal with Stage I 5.7L heads and a bit more boost?

What CR are you running? What fuel? Are you seeing any detonation in current trim?

Current CR is about 10.8 on 91. No KR.

Hmmm . . . I would think that 500 might be tough on 91 octane . . . especially with that CR. I'm no expert however. I hit 621 on 91 octane, but I had a stock ( 10.1 ) CR, and was running alky injection, no water mix. I guess the only way to find out is get it back on the dyno, and bump it up slowly, that's what I'd do.

Just to be clear? Tough on 5.7L heads (10.1)?

If so, then I should be able to hit it with Stage I 6.0L heads (9.5)

I think with stock CR ( such as 5.7 ) you could do 500 . . . just with the 5.3 @ 10.8, you might encounter some detonation . . . you could definitely hit it with the 6.0 heads and 9.5:1

I don't plan on going any higher with the current set-up.

That is why the head change to lower CR. Just trying to figure out what to get. This is my DD, so didn't want to go too low on the CR.

Each full point of compression is 3% more power for n/a.

I would go 9:1 or however low you can go.

I am running stage 1 6.0 heads, decked to 69cc's to clearn them up.

Even with my car being a DD? I don't want to lose my part-throttle power. I am not looking for the most power. Which of course low CR and high boost would give.

I still have N20 if I need more.

Sorry for all the questions, but I don't want to switch out heads again.

My 5.7L heads on my car are 73cc chambered.....

So its a little lower than 9.5:1 comp on a stock motor setup

If I built a DD I would go 8.75:1 THRU 9.25:1. With lower compression you could make 500-575rwhp.

Thanks guys. I am trying to make a decision today and get them ordered.

I am leaning towards some 6.0L Stage I heads.

Damn talk about an expensive hobby.

If you are going to get 6.0L get some S2 just so you can use them in the future on a different "blower" setup if you choose to

Thanks, but I am pretty much done with the car (HP wise). Anymore and I think I will start breaking things. I don't want to be tweaking this thing everyday. Just a reliable 500 rwhp .

Forgot, will lowering the CR change emissions?
