Default Who has the highest HP on a single S366?

Just curious who has made the most with a single S366? I have a 5.3 with a single S366, LJMS cam on E85. It made 540 RWHP on 11 psi. No other dyno numbers. I am running it on 14 psi currently. I would like to be able to get 650 or so out of it.

I have the .91 A/R turbine housing.

Any other details about your S366/5.3 combo?
How does it feel on the low end and at low speed and how rapidly does it start to build boost?
What heads and intake?
What trans/converter?
Anything more specific on the cam specs?
Have you ran that combo on pump gas?

Well, my car is a sub-2500 pound 280 Z with an 8.8 and ladder bars. It has a 1.76 Glide and 3.73 gears. It is a SBE 5.3 with a 706 heads, LS1 intake and a PAC 1218 safe cam that is 224-228 and sub .580 lift. I have not run it on pump gas. Since the car is so light, and it has gear, it spools instantly and has massive torque. I figure on 14 psi it should be over 600 wheel.

If people have made over 600 on the Chinese 68mm GT45, I'd say you're golden with the S366.

Oh, I know. I am just curious. The turbo is rated to 820, but that is supposed to be optimistic.

I think it is uncharted territory except for the Trans Am on here a fellow built for another guy, it was only about six months ago. Ive always wondered how a single one of those would work so please keep us posted! Great results so far. Seems like it should do as good as an old MPT70 but with a better turbine.

Well, I know it has been done with success because my friend did it with a 5.3 in a Grand National, which was the basis for this build. I have a chance to upgrade to a billet version...I am tempted. However, I have barely even begun to run this car. I may see where the cast wheel takes me.

Post the graph and lets hear those cam specs. The power curve will tell a lot as to if there is more in the combo. The 11 blade billet wheel is also an option but I don't know if it's worth the cash on your combo and engine.

I don't have a dyno graph, I didn't make the pull. I will see if I can get a copy. Timing on this combo is low. At 14 psi there is only 13* or so.

13* for 93oct? You can go further with more octane. Any idea where your air intake temps are? If they are around 120* I'd bump timing up to 16* and see how it likes it. What are you tuning with?

Car is on E85. Timing is conservative because I am not a timing nut on these SBE turbo cars. I will probably move it up as I tweak the car and find the sweet spot. Car runs on Micro, as does my Fairmont.

Here is the 11 psi pull. As you can see, it was still making power but it was getting quite lean.

I actually snagged the billet version of this turbo, so I want to see how far I can go.

Do you check back pressure at all?

Prob. switch over to pump gas or E30 at those boost levels and not have to upgrade the fuel system any or worry about detonation. Building a 77 280z right now with a bone stock 5.3 in it with the small S480 (turbo came with the car, may end up with a 366 myself) I'd be thrilled with those numbers at 11lbs!

Got some pictures of this thing?

Why would I switch over to pump gas when I can buy the magic juice for $1.52 a gallon? I fully intend to run this car on much higher boost levels.

I have more than pics, I have video of it making a test hit at The Pad:

Pics (it is getting dipped next week).

Pretty slick, I like it! Hope you dip it an obnoxious color!

Sounded like your fuel system was maxed. Was just thinking if 600hp and 14psi was the goal e85 wouldn't be needed. I run e85 on all my turbo stuff, still over $2 a gallon here in KS though!

Oh, not even close to being maxed out. It just needs some tune tweaks. I was going to do an obnoxius color, but the car is conspicuous enough. I am doing it olive drab.

What version of the billet did you buy? I bought the 11 blade from wicked wheel.
