Default High HP Procharged guys, need advice!

I have a 370 with a f1a making 940ish for now and soon to be close to 1000. I'm in the process of tearing down the motor and wondering if somehow double keying the crank is necessary? It's s k1 crank with one key way already in it from factory and a ati dampner.

I'm not making near what you are on power but I did have my balancer double key'd to the crank. Just for peice of mind. Had it done when it was at the machine shop.

I'm thinking I may do the same. Did they cut the other slot in your ballencer for you also?

Mine is keyed with 2 pins. Brute speed sells a kit to pin the crank

Not easy to do with a forged crank. Machine shops have to have a special bit.

Cool deal. Ati said they will cut another slot in the hub for $40 so I'll get them to do that and I'll get the machine shop to put another key slot in the crank while it's out.

That's a good way to do it sense you have it apart. Bob

With double keying the crank, is it recommended or required to reduce the clearance fit between the ATI damper and crank? Or is this not a concern?

Non issue. Same as always just 100% increase in twisting resistance. Mine is not doubled up but I see the peace of mind aspect. I am at 800 with a T56.

Nice. I guess I'm going to do it while it's all apart for good measure

I have the same pulley combo going in this year on a 408 and on e85. If you made 940hp with that combo with a 370 and a t56, that gives me a decent idea what I could put down with my combo. Solid numbers for sure.

If you don't mind me asking, what RPM were you shifting at?

it stopped making power around 6400ish. not sure if belt was slipping or heads wouldn't flow it or who knows what. I had a little bit of belt misalignment so maybe that was causing it to slip. Time will tell.

On a dyno graph belt slippage will typically show up with highs and lows, as the belt grabs and slips. If your graphs were fairly smooth and your blower doesn't have a lot of black (belt) dust on it, your belt probably wasn't slipping. Bob
