Default How do I quiet this for street driving

The pic attached shows the exhaust coming out from the turbo. That pipe is like 20" long from the outside in the pic to the turbo itself. I'm going to be driving this on the street a little bit and I need something to quiet it down to allow roar instead of an extreme roar. I've looked at the Dynotec cones. I need something 5" in diameter that can be removed quickly. Anybody have any ideas.

No idea how straight that is, or how long.

But there are items you can shove inside that will reduce noise if you are unable to attach a proper muffler ( or replace the section with a muffler )

eg

This is why i hate fender dumps

Any section thats straight enough to add a race bullet? It will quiet some but likely not a whole lot. Else a cone maybe

Run an electric dump. "T" off the down pipe with a simple 2.25" crush bent exhaust. That alone quiets it a ton. If thats not quiet enough add a muffler to the 2.25" run

Sorry for the huge pictures but this was my solution for the best of both worlds.

Its a boost activated cutout by sound performance near Chicago.

When I get into boost it opens and is a straight open downpipe to the ground allowing for excellent unrestricted flow when it matters. This is a 4inch downpipe but you could go 5inch if you want.

The pipe attached to the side of the dp is a 3inch and is routed easily through the k-member and connected the normal exhaust. Around town it sounds like an ls1 f-body with a flowmaster catback. When I mean business it just go wot, no pressing buttons and waiting 5-10 seconds for a cutout.

Only downside is sound is the only one that makes the boost activated cutout and it was about $500. Been like this for 2 years and works great.

I built this:

Name: image_zps18d47f3c.jpg
Views: 44
Size: 68.4 KB

Cost about $20. Works very well to keep the neighbors happy.
Attaches with 3 bolts. Obviously remove for racing. Packed with stainless steel For motorcycle muffs.
