Default 2008 ly6 or 2004 6.0 for boost?

Just bought a 2008 ly6 for 500 bucks. Plan is twin s366, csu blow through 750 carb. Should I stick with this engine, or trade it for the 2004 6.0?

Alright pros and cons? 58x vs 24x? Has 823 heads on it, can always swap heads.

I am by no means an expert... but the crank reluctor is irrelevant if you are doing a carb. The ly6 has stronger rods than a gen 3 lq4. 317 and 823 heads are both great for boost. No need to change the heads, imo.

I sold my 03 lq4 to get an 09 ly6, mainly for the rods.

I thought the 04 6.0 had the better rods.

That's a hard one. Most 04's had the good rods but a few had the early rod. If the o4 has the floating rods and is in good shape IMO they are a little bit better engine.

i believe the earlier one has 10mm bolts on the valley cover, and if they are 13mm they have the updated rods if you cant pull the pan. I cant imagine gm putting the gen 4 rods in every 13mm block, it would be typical of them to have a certain number leave the factory mismatched, but i could be wrong.

Interestingly my ~04 LQ9 had the floating rods, 24x and all even sized head studs and 10mm valley bolts.

I think all LQ9's had the floaters.
