that last pull was a lean afr cut off activating, and maybe that did upset it at that power level.

only found one bent rod

damn not bad with just one bent rod. I bet it will take a good bit more power with some fuel. Id slap another in it and see what u can get out of it. **** I'm already impressed in how much power its made! stock truck intake and lines lol!

He quit using head studs during Fairmont 5.0, and the head lifted because he kept pushing it while it was lean.

Hmmmmm. Replace the one rod and get new fuel line and see what's what?
Throw the 4.8 in there and see if it will even spin the Weiner S480?
How about the 4.8 rotating assembly in the 6.0 block? Will need different pistons or maybe even longer rods though......and if you are gonna do that might as well go forged rods and pistons....

Spark plug and piston look great, so I doubt it bent a rod because it was lean. That hole most likely just need a couple degrees of timing pulled.

Matt, do have any 0-100psi pressure sensors laying around you could rig up to monitor coolant pressure? Scott says you will see a 50psi spike at WOT when the gasket is having sealing issues.

I dunno, he was leaning it out a bit. I would say it would have been a lean knock that probably bent it.

It may have pushed water in that one cylinder just enough to hydraulic it, bending the rod. Once he got out of it, it might have pushed the water out the exhaust. I have never seen a lean tune bend only the rod. Water on the other hand....likes to pretzel spinning parts.

Matt,
Please slam another rod/ piston in that hole, slap that pig back together, and beat on it til it relinquishes a 4 digit HP number. You have already proven so many theories to be wrong, it would be criminal to start slapping forged parts in it.

It's just a number. If Matt used a dynojet, he would have exceeded 1000 WHP easily. The actual power isn't the point. Almost achieving his goal was. He also isn't claiming the have the highest HP SBE LS1 on the planet.

A 6.0, below freezing temps, healthy cam, and truck intake will make north of 400 NA easy locked up. His numbers are feasible. A bone stock LS1 with 58* ambient temps claiming 736 @ 14.8lbs and 872 @ 19lbs isn't. That's 32.4whp per pound on a stock LS1.

Why you would bring that up in his thread anyway, let it go.

Very cool/crazy that this is possible. Im sure it's in here somewhere but what was the peak timing under power then the transition off throttle and decel?

Matt...

Just got thru watching your tear down video of the 992 hp engine.

And it confirms something that I have always suspected.

You are a alien super hero sent here to guide us through the turbo ls world.

The proof is in the video.

You want us all to believe that you speed the camera up but in fact, that is your normal alien speed and what sounds like gibberish to us...

Is in your normal alien speech.

You only slow things down so that us mere mortals are able to follow along.

It all makes perfect sense.

Now I am able to see how you get so much more done than the rest of us.

It makes me feel so much better.

I realize now, that I am normal and that I shouldn't feel bad about not being able to get as much done as you do.

I mean jeez... How was I supposed to compete against a alien with super hero powers.

But...

On another front...

It is good to see that even alien super hero's miss their mark sometimes...

I mean 992.9 hp is really, really close...

But it just isn't a grand...lol

Glad to see that the engine was only teasing you and that it was a easy and cheap fix.

Throw it back together and show us mortals how to bend the dyno gauge.

You said in the video that you might not upgrade the fuel system? If the AFR was running away then why wouldn't you?

Matt, stock fuel system is fine. Give it another 10-15 PSI of fuel pressure, toss in another rod (we know you have them laying around), and make 1050whp.

Since he is running the stock truck rails and regulator that is not referenced, its not as simple as adding pressure. My son and I vote for him to add a 3rd 450 pump and see what happens once he puts a rod/piston back in that thing.
