Default SDCE Spring Tensioner Update

This morning I got the right belts for the new ATI Superdamper, installed the SDCE 8rib Spring Tensioner kit with a 4.0 pulley. First thing I noticed is the rattling from the SC is gone, it finally sounds normal and not like the bearings are going out. I took the car out for some street testing, drove it easy for the first 25 miles. Then slowly I started some WOT runs first to 4k rpm then 5K then to 6K, shifting easy between gears. At 6k rpm I see about 9 psi. With my old stock setup I would only see about 8 psi at 6K. After all the the street testing through the gears I thought I would try a WOT run from a 50 mph roll. The car feels completely different from a roll then it used to. I dumped the clutch from a 50 mph roll and layed down some serious rubber, fish tailed, really scared the **** out of myself. I was not expecting it to hit so hard. I then tried a 70 mph roll and basicly the same thing happened. Now I know with the old setup I was seeing alot of slip and I didn't even think it was slipping. Now I am going to get a good set of headers on the car and retune, hopefully bring the psi down to 7 or 8. I am very happy with the kit. I just have to save up for the built engine so I can run some real boost. FYI the spring tensioner is set at 15 and the belt don't even feel tight.

Almost forgot to thank Scott and Wendy at SDCE for all of their help. I can't say enough about these two, always helpfull. When I had questions they were both on the phone helping me out. I probably have 2 or more hours on the phone between the two of them. You can tell when someone is into their job and Scott and Wendy definatly are.

Awesome

I hope I can get my stuff this week, I guess Scott got kind of backed up w/some other stuff.....

I'm getting excited, so far we got 3 setups out there, no belt dust on any, which means no slipping...

Good news to me

Awesome news. So far every report has been a really positive one. I was really on the fense between cogs and spring tensioned. but I think when you talk to Scott and Wendy they really seem to want to help out and stand behind their product. that goes a long way in my book. I can't wait to get my bracket and see how she runs.

Sent my bracket and stuff out last week. I haven't heard from either Wendy nor Scott since then, but I haven't called to ask either. I'll give them some time as I still need to get some parts on the Hawk before the new tensioner gets here. I'll probably check in and see how things are going near the end of the week.

I was chewing through belts pretty good on my 12 rib D-1 on my 383 LT-1.
Back in Februrary, I brought my Z down to SD Concepts as I live about 2 hours away and had them do the tensioner right on my Z and let's just say it was some of the best money I ever spent

The car can spin at 6400 all day long without any belt issues.

Finally got everything else squared away and made some shakedown runs on Saturday and here's how the day went

11.7 @ 120 (forgot to turn the lockup off on my Vig multi disc)
11.06 @ 126.8 (left soft on the first two runs)
10.72 @ 125 (1.49 sixty ft)
10.58 @ 128 (1.51 sixty ft)

Here's a link to a video of the 11.06 run against a certain white twin turbo and a copy of the 10 second timeslips

Default Need Help with Boost

I recently installed a Auto Meter boost gauge. When I first punch it in any gear, the boost reads 5 psi; however, soon as I shift the boost gauge goes to vacuum and doesn't go back into the boost section unless I shift and then roll into the next gear a little slower. The thing seems to still pull like a ***** through the gears even though no boost is shown. Could it be my belt is slipping? Last night I put some anti-slip belt dressing on it and it did not help.

check the hose that goes from the engine to the boost guage, it could be collapsing or kinked.
