the stock ls1 is one that uses a gromet , i ordered a bung off ebay and had it welded into one of the pipes going from the intercooler to the tb . Another option is to have someone lay a bead of weld and then drill and tap it for the iat sensor .

Weld a small square piece of 3/16 or 1/4 aluminum plate to the tube and drill and tap it. Works perfect and costs less than a bung. Make sure your using good quality tube, I've been told that eBay **** disintegrates when you hit it with a welder.

Get a new sensor. The one you have is made to go on the air inlet on an NA car. Not made for a pressurized setup.

U want this...

Bought a 3/8npt alum bung and had it welded in the charge pipe.

Using a wells su107 sensor (same as above) however I'm having an issue because the car keeps killing them in one night.

Stop using wells garbage. The car isn't killing them, they have a life span of 24hrs from wells.

I dont know about all this threaded stuff, i got my iat sensor off of GMC jimmy i believe, the non threaded kind. Drilled out the egr or whatever hole is right behind the throttle body on top of a truck intake, added some rtv and smacked it into the hole no problem

I use the threaded 3/8npt aluminum bungs all over eBay for under 10$
And I use eBay aluminum pipe. Never have had it deterioration from welding with even a cheap *** eastwood mig welded spool gun.
Maybe its just welder mod. Like driver mod.

I always use the 3mm thick alum tubing form CX racing. It’s cheap and you can drill and tap it easily without bungs or welding. I drill, tap, epoxy mine in. Never had a leak... and I run 34lbs of boost on my 4 banger.

Are we positive the grommet style has the same temperature element /range as the threaded type? I’d think it would be more likely to melt with high IAT temps as well. Esp. pre intercooler or on cars without an intercooler.

Never welded it myself, just have some friends who've built several turbo cars advised me to steer clear. Nothing is impossible with enough skill.

It's possible to burn thru. I haven't had any probs w a spool gun finish on the cold sides. So far w the aluminum tube off eBay. It's just alot faster than a rig in most cases. For the stuff in working on. Don't take offense to what I said about welded mod. Just like to fool around a bunch every now n then.

That's kinda what I'm hoping. Already ordered a delco sensor.
