Default Turbo Dart Next LS cam.

Got the engine installed to check clearance and it looks like turbos are my only option without steering rack clearance issues. I wasn't sure in the beginning if I would turbo it or not and the builder had me buy the Isky cam below. Not looking to build a 1/4 mile drag car or dyno queen, just a nice durable 800 hp or so daily driver. Sort of over built for this application, but it is what it is. Prc 255 heads with T&D 1.8 rockers, Manley springs .660 lift, 155 seat 405 open, only 9.0 to 1 compression, 4.125 x 3.75 (400 cu in), 2800 rpm stall. Is this Isky cam at least middle of the road for this, or should I go ahead and fill out a custom cam sheet from LJMS or Smallwood? I hate taking it apart unless this cam is way off.
Thank you.

Do you get e85 in your area? If so I would run more compression.... (10:1) and it'll drive better out of boost. That cam is relatively small... but will drive great.

What chassis it going in? Transmission?

It's over 100 mile round trip to get E85 (Rocklin or Davis) so I went 9 to 1 for pump gas. 260Z 4l80.

your large bore, short stroke setup will love boost. should make great torque with that cam and rev to 6-6500

Just a couple of miles before Collins Lake. I bought my dry sump parts from A.R.E. in Loomis.

Not going to worry about the cam any more, most people seem to think that while it's pretty mild, it will be fine. Started looking at turbo fitment today and these two BW's took up space in a hurry.

230/233 on a 113+0...

yea.. I don't care for it too much but if you wanted to install it in the motor on a 109 instead of a 113... and run something like a billet 80mm S400.... it would do what you needed to do pretty well.

Not really.... it needs to be installed with 4 degrees advance just to get the valve events in the proper relationship with each other.

Is it a band-aid, or would it be better to just get something else?

I have customers running 5 ohs in the 1/8 mile with a 230/235 cam in a 408...

install the cam in the motor on a 109 intake centerline and it will be a great mid range performing camshaft for what you are wanting to do... it will get the motor into the rpm range easily to make the power you want to make....

Talked to the builder today and asked where he installed the cam at, after a long conversation, parts of which went a bit over my head, he said it was at 109. I smiled. Thank you.
