No one said they didn't work.

Hats off to Jarrett, but comparing stock48’s results with the rest and you’ll notice a huge gap. He’s like the purple unicorn of LS forced induction. No one is seeing results like his. I ran the Small S475 on my 5.3 RX-7. Great turbo. But As I said, it runs out of steam fast with no real way to upgrade. My 2900lb rx-7 trapped 153 blowing hot air with the small S475 at 26lbs. The larger wheel S400’s simply make more power per pound. You’ll notice Stock48 doesn’t run the small wheels anymore. He stuffs the largest exh. wheel the S400 CHRA has to offer in a T4 housing… There’s a reason for that.

Followed by some shaft play, nothing crazy.

I wont even waste my time sending the turbo off to get inspected after reading how they work with their warrenty.
Sad to say but 550$ down the drain.
Sounds like possible oil failure. What oil are you using?

BTW - what did you find with the hot crank issue?

I think i spoke too early. Lol.
I took the oil drain plate off, took off the compressor cover and hotside. Everything looks perfect. The turbo is a little stiff but i think its fine. The shaft play is minimal side to side. No in and out shaft play.
The shaft inside looks like new, i figure if the angle was a problem their would be some discoloration but their isnt.

Im gona install the wastegate and give it a shot before pulling the trigger on another turbo

Well gave it the benefit of the doubt
Installed the new gate. Took it for a drive and when i started the car up the turbo wasnt spinning at idle, only if i got it to 2k rpm or so.

Got home and now has more shaft play and found this.

Time for another turbo. Either the 96mm s475 t6. Or wait for the clone s480

Sorry about your luck. That clone 480 is looking pretty good. The S475 and it are about the same price arn't they?

Do you still have your eBay GT45 to put on there in the mean time?

Well, maybe you could grab one (GT45) for a backup/interim turbo. They're damn near free. Lol

No, 96 mm exhaust wheel. The exducer on the turbine will be smaller. BW lists the exhaust wheel size, not the exducer like other manufacturers do. That's gonna be a big BEOTCH!
