Default Spraying freeon on intercooler?

Has anyone tride this? I know Ford is doing this on the new lightnings, but has anyone tried to make something for our cars. I was thinking of bypassing my A/C line from going inside the car and routing a line around the intercooler instead. My bro-inlaw fabricates the lines and duct work for buildings and thinks he can do it with minimul condensation. or he could make it so any water would just drip on the headers and burn off. what do you think?

I would like to see how the new lightning is setup. I would think it would be better to have it run off a seperate switch instead of coming on all the time. Next time I hit the track right before I make a pass Ill have someone spray a can onto the intercooler and see what happens.

I think that on the lightning the AC cools down the IC at full throttle and in short bursts only... I may be wrong.

Well actually I think it'll be using R134 not Freon...read an interesting article about that and whey it was never done before is apparently Freon is flammable/explosive and would be very very very bad if it leaked into the engine.

I think Ford is going to run R134 INSIDE the IC to cool the intake temps.... dunno I'll have to see if i can find the link again.

Just thinking here and could be wrong, but wouldn't it be pointless to have to have your A/C on to make it work because under full throttle the A/C kicks off (unless you adjusted the table in edit). So you woudn't be getting the benefit?
Interesting idea though!

lol...they are not spraying freon anywhere (or R134a for that matter). They have a cooling system with some cooling pipes running through the IC. No fluid is "sprayed" at all. And it only lasts 20 seconds, and it takes 2 minutes to "refill."

have you ever tryed turning the AC on right when you start up a car and its warm? then after waiting a while it gets cold and stays cold even if you shut it off for a while? the idea is that you turn it off when youre racing but it is already cold from being "prepped" before and after the race. i was thinking about this idea too but i dont know enough about refrigeration equiptment/systems to go past the "that would be cool" phase .

when I said freeon I obbviously meant r134 seeing as it is about the only one you can buy nowadays. My idea is to spray the intercooler just before making a pass. Dont you guys put ice on your intercoolers after each run? It is the only way to be consistant when bracket racing. I was just looking for a cooler way to do it. I wouldnt want it to run the hole coarse of the track. i think it would be nice to be able to have some sort of a switch hooked up to spray it through a hard line wrapped around the intercooler.
Bomax oblviously it is not going to get sprayed in the air by ford. I was only saying to spray it on the intercooler as a test.

Or folks spray nitrous or carbon dioxide on the front of a FMIC to chill down the FMIC. Import folks have done that for a while.

I would think that it would only help if you did it after your burnout.
