Default intercooling ??

what do you think about intercooling after the maf. i want some opinions because i know that the maf will not be seeing the cooler air and you may not gain as much from it. i am currious because i want to do an experiment. i dont have FI yet but am looking at many options. i have an idea for a cheep inter cooler that will add no more resistance in the intake.

i am sure someone has thought of this before.

It shouldn't matter where you intercool. The MAF reads mass flow of air. It may change temperature, but it is still the same amount of mass.

Your truck reads IATs at the MAF. The LS1 cars read IAT at the lid which is further downstream of the MAF.
If you want to intercool after the MAF and have zero restriction then you should read the Alcohol Injection threads above.

Otherwise you are going to have to go with a real intercooler which is pretty easy to fab into your truck with all the room we have. An F-body is a different pain in the ***

so ryan your intercooler is after the maf??

f8l i am looking at all options and am trying to see how your kit is going to turn out. i am just real currious how well it will do for higher hp# with 20# boost. i like it because it is hidden but would want to add an intercooler. it is just hard to see the light when you are so use to seeing turbos one way. the motor has 20K miles on it now and i finaly found a job so next is a tranny then turbo.

I'll keep pluggin away and figuring out how best to work these things. in the event that I do get it figure out and make real good power then it'll just help you guys out that muich more

I am waiting for the new exhaust housings to be available form Garrett in a couple months and we should have more answers by then. As for right now I am not too disapointed.

Question though. Is your motor built to handle 20psi? That's a crapload of boost on a V8!

your going to want to put an iat sensor after the intercooler to read the real incoming air temps.
