Fbody P1SC
Fbody P1SC So I was planning on doing a H/C swap on my 01 TA here in the next month. I have everything to do the swap now. However a guy I know is selling a P1SC off his LS7 vette. He said he would sell the head unit and bracket for $1500. Is that a reasonable price? That bracket shouldn't work on my ls1 should it? What does it usually cost to complete the kit?
Just for reference, there is a P1SC head unit for sale on here for $1,600 and he says he's firm. I think that's a bit high, but that's just me. I wouldn't pay more than $1,300 for a P1SC head unit personally. On one of the F-Body FB pages, a guy is selling a complete P1SC Procharger kit (F-Body specific) for $2,500 shipped.
I was also thinking it was a little high but I don't know much about them. I've always wanted one. A procharger wasn't initially planned when I started collecting parts. With the heads I got over the winter my compression will be 11:1. I know it's possible but it would just require me to change a few things like injectors, maybe a meth kit, and I didn't have a new fuel pump but would definitely need one if I pulled the trigger on this.
Bigger injectors, bigger pump, and meth or e85 would be required. I would look at getting a D1SC at minimum. Much more capable blower and would still be plenty safe on your setup.
Don't get me wrong, there isn't anything wrong with the P1SC blower, but from what I've been seeing lately, the price difference (used) between the P1SC and the D1SC is negligible at best, and the D1SC is a much better, more versatile, blower.
