I got sick of the lil ATI procharger K&N Filter. All this talk of losing HP/TQ to a filter got me to go get this one
I don't know if it is big enough though...

Will it fit????? I think there is plenty of room.....glad I relocated my air pump to behind the fuse box when I had a powerdyne on the car![Chug! Chug! Chug!](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_chug.gif)

Josh pull the inner fender well and pull the bumper cover DAMMIT, Yep it fits
![](http://home.comcast.net/~jsbird1998/filter4.jpg)
Get assorted 90 deg bends from previous K&N set up reconfigure and BAM
![](http://home.comcast.net/~jsbird1998/filter5.jpg)
All pieces are up and clamps tightened down, fits perfectly I can even fit my finger infront of the air filter(front is resting about 2 inches below the driver side marker light)

Definately need a shoe horn or extra set of hands but a filter this big fits fine. You can hear this big sucker sucking air from 5ft away
I even put the ATI cover back on so the filter stays protected from the water. Not bad for a 1.5 hours of work including a 3.4 pulley install....
Enjoy,
J

50.00 bucks and I found it locally
I used two 90 degree elbows and two 3.5 reinforced silicone connectors that were about 4 inches long each to ensure everything would connect nicely.
And don't mind the half oiled filter pics, I ran out and had to go buy some more.

Cool Thanks
At first I thought I wasted 50 bucks......but then we took off the old assembly I had going and pulled and pried until it slipped in fine and made sure it had clearance around the front of it and on the sides, which it does quite nicely. It didn't even bow out the front bumper cover any![Hail](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_hail.gif)
Feels faster but who knows until I get it to the dyno and track,

I got a filter that size, I attempted to squeeze it, but never could do it ![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
I might have to try again, and drop the cooler on that side to get it in there....I'm sure my little dinky filter is sucking up some power

IT is worth a LOT of power.
When I had my baby Powerdyne I used a filter close to that size versus the stock PD setup and picked up 4-5mph with NO other changes.
HUGE difference
you guys will see even more

That looks like the filter they use in a vortex rammer C5 airbox, I have a brand new (3 dyno pulls) E-1796 K&N filter if someone wants to try one. Didnt help me at all on the dyno, switched them right on the car and made 3 pulls each. You guys might gain some though..

That E-1796 still looks small though, I couldn't even attempt to get the filter through the space between the intercooler and intercooler pipe(original plan lol). I like the way the front of this filter is open. I replaced one that was cupping in from the suction last year
Like I said above, I might not be gaining any HP/TQ from this thing but I definately won't be losing any to it.![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
Bos, probably don't have to drop the cooler, just have another set of hands helping you. My buddy Josh pulled the inner fender liner toward the tire and pulled the bumper cover out towards him, this gave us enough space to slip the filter up and into the space. Fits like a glove.

I'm just going off of Black's pics, his 1796 fits inbetween the cooler and pipes. I'll get some measurements off this thing to see what size it is. Anything is big compared to the stock ATI filter.....I can't believe ATI stuck us with a filter that small in the first place

I finally got it in this morning, I dropped the intercooler anyways just to give some more room to fit it, I pushed it closer to the center of the car so it wasn't pushing at the fender, its kind of squeezed in there, but its good for now, I used the stcok accordian tubing and shoved it inside of the big filter, there is a 1/4" gap on the top side where I couldn't fit my hand to get it in there, but I think its good for now.....
Anyways, for the street testing, its about 90 degrees here now, with about 90% humidity.....
I took it for a blast up to 6K and saw 11psi.......
I was seeing 9psi all day long yesterday with the same weather.....now, if the rain holds off I plan on taking it out tonight when its cooler to see what it has in it.....
Now the ?........is there a need to redyno?
