Run a gasket or not on s480? Hey Guys.
I got the Monkey Fab flange. The guy that makes them said not to use a gasket between the flange and turbo flange. That just seems weird to me. I seen some guys rtv it. Wanted to see what everyone else is doing. Thanks!

If the flanges are true it's not needed. Block sand them with 400g and if it's perfect I wouldn't bother.
I like the remflex gaskets with turbo stuff if the flanges aren't exact. The single layer SS and brass/bronze gaskets never sealed well for me.

He said his flange is machined flat. I just dont like the idea of not running something. There isnt a sealed flat surface besides the vbands that doesnt have some kind of gasket, seal, or rtv sealing it up. Do they make that in a split flange t6 BW style? Where do you guys get you gaskets as well?

Verdad Gallardo Shouldn't need any sort of RTV or sealer. Installed dry or with a tiny dab of grease with true surfaces will seal very well.

I would never use a graphite gasket on a turbo. had them blow out on my cross over too many times. If the surface is true and the manufacture said to use no gasket, whats the problem?
Remflex gaskets have proven time after time to hold up great with turbo systems. THey hold up to 3000* temps and mold to the flange used. Used 1 set of reflex manifold/header gaskets for 6 years with multiple remove/installs over those years. Great gaskets… not that I disagree with the no gasket argument, but if you need a gasket these are great in my experience.

the reason I am asking is this is my first time doing a turbo build. No one I personally know has done a turbo build. I take your guys's experiences and knowledge seriously. I want to do it right the first time. As it looks too. Theres different ways that people are doing and works, I just wanted to know what options worked for people. I got my ETR HO used off a member on here so didnt come with a gasket, so wasn't sure if they came with one new or just not run one.
Thanks forcefed for showing me how to google. lol I was looking for one off forced inductions site to see which one they recommend/offer. Thank you though for posting a link to one you have had experience with.
The problem is, I just don't like the idea of not having something. You can tell me its machined flat. It has pits and where it looks like he slipped machining out the exhaust inlet holes and gouged it. Its mild steel flange up against a turbo thats had lots of heat cycles and both been in and out and banged around while trying to moc it all up. So wanted to see your guys's experiences. Maybe thats perfectly fine and I'm way over thinking it. I just want to find out at the track that not running a gasket was a bad idea and I should have asked first. lol
