Default Steam Tube?

Would it be ok to drill and tap in this pipe to run to steam tube?

If your talking about the top hose it will work, but if its thin steel I would weld a bung in it-if thick alumn. it might tap ok
When you fill the rad., fill from the top hose

Depends on the overall design of your install.

One picture of one part doesnt give enough info.

Ideally steam vents will route to the airspace in the header tank.

What I ended up doing on my most recent build, since I had to join two upper hoses, I got an adapter from jegs/summit with a nipple on both ends, and a 1/8 fitting tapped, so I used that for my bleed-past projects I welded a bung in the radiator near the upper hose.

I thought I remembered a while back some people were also tapping into their water pumps for this reason. not sure how well it worked for then or which one would be better? I just ended up welding a bung onto the griffin everyone uses

It would make no sense whatsoever to route the steam ports to a lower area in the system like the water pump.

Anywhere on the low pressure side will work. The higher the better. Mine is tapped into the top of the water pump. Been like that for over 10 years.

Trying to route air back into the engine where the whole point of the vent ports is to allow air to to escape from block/heads to the header tank area...is daft.

Yes.

Whether that's a remote header or built into the radiator, either/or. Generally the highest point in the system where air should naturally end up.

I dont know what you mean by header....you mean an end tank...water manifold..etc? I have a tube welded right off the top of my water pump with a radiator cap provision welded to that. It is the highest point in my cooling system loop (just above top of heads). I am using a traditional pressurized cap there to bleed off expanding coolant into an overflow tank that is mounted higher than the coolant cap on the water pump. I plan on plumbing my steam vents to this tube between the water pump and the cap. All air should bleed out this way as it is the highest pressurized location in the cooling system, with the overflow tank being the highest non pressurized point.

I've just explained it in the last post. If you are venting to the highest point in the system then that is fine.

Drill n tap the heads to 1/8npt n use 1/8npt-3/8 stainless barb on all for corners. Tee the hose to the top part of the water pump that's flat.
900+rw. No heating issues.whatsoever. Drive to street n track n hiway.
Top of water.pump is also tapped 1/8npt to 3/8 barb fitting.
