Waste gate line size

Waste gate line size
Long story short, my buddy ordered 6 feet of 6 mm hard plastic air hose and they sent him 6 packs, 4 feet each. Changing over to push-to-connect fittings and am wondering is anyone using 6mm lines to their gate? Wondering if it's too small? If so, I'll go 1/4".

A lot of small silicone is flimsy crap, too soft, easily split/damaged etc. I would never use it for something as important as a wastegate.
There may be some good quality stuff out there, but I've never seen any I'd be happy with.

We use the 1/4" push to connect fittings. It's way away from anything hot, I put a silver sharpie mark on at each of the connections to do a quick visual incase if it starts working its way out of the fitting.
Never had any problems with it.

I use the same stuff on everything. I usually buy a 10 pack of plastic fittings off ebay for like 5$ and then get the line at napa (1/4" air brake line)
Ive never had a failure with it, even with the plastic fittings on the wastegates.
But its a much bigger deal on cars with out over boost protection.

push fittings are great...I use them in "cold" locations.
I'd never consider a wastegate cold enough to be safe though...although many do seem to use them with success.
I guess if wastegate is fairly remote mounted and away from the main body of exhaust/turbo it would be a lot cooler. But there would still be a lot of heat soak after stopping.

i use PTC. this stuff works pretty good for me. you gotta route it under anything hot. while it is resistant to 500*F, it'll droop at a couple hundred and make a stinky mess.

We use them on wastegate lines as well, since its a racecar... it doesn't run long enough to worry about melting them, and they're far enough away that it shouldn't.
