MPT70 on LQ4, worth it?

Default MPT70 on LQ4, worth it?

If you had a good Master power T70 .68ar leftover from a previous build and wanted to turbo your LQ4, would you use it? I'm not looking for the most power I can squeeze out of it just as much fun as I can have. Would a swap to a .96ar housing be worth it?

Less than ideal, but if you don't want to buy another turbo I'd at least get the larger turbine housing.

What's it going in? Those are well built turbos and would definitely be worth using especially with the .96 housing. Should be able to make 500 wheel on the lq4

Agreed....the exhaust side is probably a little on the small side, but if you don't rev it past 5500rpm, it should be ok and light up instantly. I had one of these years ago and I was going to use it on a 5.3L build, but that never happened.

It's going on a stock 6.0 w/317 heads, T56, 3.2X rear gear 4000lb car. The turbo has less than an hours worth of idle time and I've seen a few people use them with success. I'm not trying to set any records just build a fun car to beat on.

I say go for it. Given the smallish turbine housing, make sure you get a large enough wastegate...

I have one on a 5.3 with ls6 cam. I start making boost at 1800 rpm. Had this same one on an L33 and it made almost 600 wheel through a th400 at 12.8lbs. Should be okay for what you want to do just make sure you leave some room around the turbo in case you want to upgrade down the road.

This is the turbo that's on my car currently. Its a mild cammed 347 with stock 806 heads and ls1 intake and made 616rwhp thru an M6 at 15psi. Runs out of steam at 5700rpm (peak power is at 5300) due to the dinky exhaust housing. It's getting replaced with an on3 78/75 over the winter.

Does yours have the .68 exhaust housing? With a 6.0 that sucker should spool pretty damn quick, lol.
