Default Twin Billet S369 SXE ??

I posted a little while ago about a midmounted twin turbo setup on a 408, my original plan was to either run Twin Billet S366s or Cast S366s. I'm honestly not sure..... does the billet wheel make a significant gain with these turbos? I've been looking at the S369 billet SXE (73mm turbine/ .88 Open A/r housing) I can get a pair for $1600 shipped, I obviously want something that can reach my hp goals easily but at the same time, I don't want to throw money into the drain on upgrades that aren't necessary. Has anyone actually ran these turbos with a twin setup? Are these much better than the cast S366s. I have a power goal of 13-1400. Without running completely full wick.. turbos will be mounted in the bed like this. I'm just curious about this turbo as I can't really find any solid results, let alone being used in a twin setup

The S369SXE is night and day different than than cast S366. The S369 will flow about 30lb/min more each over the S366. Should certainly reach your goal of 13-1400 a bit easier than the S366. Hard to beat them for that price.

I wondered the same thing about the cast wheel 66's compared to these new 69's. I just haven't seen many combos or results posted up here showing the potential of the new turbos over the older cast versions.

Probably as they're new, they're just not out there on completed builds yet

THmotorsports sells the SX-E 369 super cores for $642 shipped. Best deal I've seen... Even better than dealer supplied prices I've seen anywhere else. You can get the 179905 housing for $145. Making it $787 total shipped. Since they have them at jegs/summit they might price match too...

I just caved in and bought a pair of Billet SXE 69s this morning from Reed at Work Turbochargers for $1600 shipped dead even . The sale was over Thursday for the turbos at that price but He still granted me that deal which is awesome. Turbos were shipped out right after purchase lol already have the tracking info and everything. That's GREAT service

You should like them, I'm not sure how anyone could say these spool slow. I too have a 5.3L with the following setup: 231/239 113 cam, 1 3/4" up and forward headers, 3.5" downpipes, Precision 46 WG's, S369SXE with T4 .88 housing, Edelbrock Pro-Flo XT, running on E85 controlled by Holley EFI with Holley 160 injectors and Magnafuel 4703 pump.

Rolling into the throttle 14PSI takes about 1 second which is about as fast as my single setups spooled, right at 3100RPM seems to be where these light off. On 17PSI they are using about the same fuel as a billet S480 on kill. These turned up to 25-30PSI should make some jams as long as the heads stay put!

You're saying 2 of these on a 5.3 are making 14psi at 3100rpm within 1sec of going WOT ?

That's insane, even my 364's on a 6.3 wont spool anywhere near that fast.

I went from a 6.0 to a 5.3 with the same turbo and didn't notice much if any spool drop off. I don't think 5.3's are as bad as people make them out to be for spooling. From what everyone was saying online I thought these were going to be really lazy as well. But someone also said the SXE use a different hotside from the normal S300 lineup to promote faster spooling at the expense of a little flow, but on a 5.3 with twin 69/73 I doubt I'll notice the restriction.

Within 1 sec of hitting 100% TPS yes. Counting rolling into the throttle from nothing to getting my foot down 100% then its 1.5-1.7 seconds. But rolling along in 3rd gear and hitting gas it will boost as low as 2300RPM and dip out. That's not counting using the two step from a launch as I figured that wasn't a fair comparison, but they light off quick on the two step as well, on the second POP its in boost.

My tune has been good for quick spool though as we've got a 5.3 spooling a T6 S484 and he doesn't have any perceivable lag, makes 30PSI as soon as he gets his foot to the floor. E85 certainly helps and I give it what it wants, I don't pull fuel or timing until its lit. A lot of these laggy cars tunes are pulling timing as soon as it gets into positive pressure and drowning it in fuel which in our experience just doesn't work well.

It sounds pretty unbelievable they make that boost so fast at such low rpm. Even more so as they have the larger turbine wheel too.

I still dont think an SXE would physically fit my car, but that's defo good to hear

Completely different results than my deal. The SXE369s I tried spooled slow and didn't make power. They also had the 88 AR and 73mm turbine.

Subscribed for some track or dyno results. Be nice to see a real world comparison to the S300's, if anyone has made the switch?

I was considering the SXE369's but saw mixed reviews and couldn't find any real results, so I went with the S366's. Might be second guessing my decision now?
