Simple and to the point. High 700 horse to the wheels, nothing special About the car. 12 bolt with a drag radial....with a 400 transferring the power. Result?....here ya go.

Yep. I have an 800whp 6 speed car and tried drag racing it. When I built a race car, it received an auto!

I hear that. Mine makes 770, and is WILD slow for the power that it makes. This guy was relatively slow like mine....till he installed the 400. Said he hasn't looked back since the installed it.

I promise you that you will have absolutely no regrets.
I put the th400 in my car when it was still cam only- at the same time went back to 3.42 from 4.11s. It was not the same car, total monster in comparison.
Add a turbo to the equation and it's an even better result, lol.

Oh I agree. I told him that I was looking to ditch the 6 speed in favor of an automatic, and asked if I could ride in his car after the track. He was cool enough to let me, after we were done....I definitely knew that I neededan automatic in my life.

I still call it a man pedal. Takes much skill to pilot a 6 speed down the track (deep pockets too). I just know that it's going to take more than I'm willing to spend, to make it run anything like it would with an automatic. And yeah, I can't refute the car being slow.....at the track. As it is right now, it's nothing more than a highway monster.

See.. all the auto guys where trying to say this same thing. As "cool" as a 6spd is, It sucks watching cars with the same HP as you run your car into the ground. Once you swap you'll never go back to a manual car. Welcome to the dark side!

I'm right there with you. My next mod will be a TH400 or a Glide.

Nice, clean hit! I did the opposite. Always been a built auto guy and went from a 4l80e triple disk to a T56. Only due to never taking my car to the track.

I'm assuming that your car is full weight as is mine, if so....I think our cars are too heavy for a glide. Might be better off with a 400.

What are your thoughts about the 6 speed, when jacking around on the street....as opposed to the automatic?

Wrong. Just like every other person on the web. I know plenty of street driven glide Fbodys. All in the setup.

OK, so what is the key to making a glide the better choice over a 400 in a heavy f body.....other than crazy low gears?
