But the real question I had was if the IAT and Meth nozzle were in a good enough spot.

I'm looking to install an nitrous express meth kit on my naturally aspirated 11/1 compression lq4. With Dart heads it doesn't seem to take more than 25.5 degrees timing before getting knock and id like to bump that up a little without knock and see how it responds. Also in the summer heat my intake air temps get pretty hot so a water meth kit will help cool that. Im not expecting huge results but its those small ones that add up.
On my set up , would i do better on just water? I have 4 gallons of boost juice i can cut to 50/50 with water and have 75w/25 m mixture and not change much on my tune other than where it was said to tune the iat table for if you run out.
Also i spray a dry 100 shot. Using boost juice when i do spray is a bonus safety. Not for fueling, just a little extra safety. (I very rarely spray)

Suggestions?

Great looking stuff, the bike is for insane people though. Way to crazy fast for me.

Default Question on meth kit

I currently have the snow performance stage one methanol injection kit and I'm looking to upgrade the Boost controller from the plastic one that comes with the kit to a digital Progressive boost controller I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade the controller with it being the stage 1 kit and all and if fact I can upgrade it which boost controllers would be compatible with that kit. I know this is an old thread but if somebody could chime in I would really appreciate it thank you

I'm looking to do the exact same thing as you, and my build and setup is very similar to yours as well. My timing is set at 26 since anything more causes knock. I'm very curious about the NX meth kit as well since it's very reasonably priced and my nitrous kit is NX too.

I will try to get it installed next week and take it to dyno since I'm changing my car to speed density. Good time to test

Good deal. Ill be looking forward to it. Will you be doing a before and after dyno run? I'm assuming you went with the NX meth kit?

I have the NX kit. Yes we have to retune to speed density and after i dial it in we will do meth pulls. Might just use water if its all it needs unless i spray nitrous too

Gotcha. I'll be very curious how this turns out, so please keep us posted. Btw, just to clarify, is this their stage 1 EFI kit that retails for around $334?

interesting thread. what has not been mentioned is how much fluid will evaporate. for water its (from memory) 35g per 1 kg of air at 35°c. the heat absorbed is then around 80 kj and will cool the charge by 80°c. it must somehow be snowing in the manifold.

That's it. I bought it on Amazon a couple years ago and never got to install it.

Where i hope to see improvement is at the starting line friday night my iat went to 117f. It did not fall below 100 until top of 2nd gear only going down to 93f.
In my iat correction table it pulled 2 degrees of timing. Already only run 25.5 degrees before knock so this should help me.

Yep I like the price and simplicity of that NX kit. Im also considering one by AEM that looks really good for the cost as well. You mention of maybe using water only depending on the results. I'm curious why not use at least a mixture of meth and water so you can safely bump the timing and have better performance all around? No doubt the water alone will cool the intake charge, but it won't do a thing to help for the low timing except maybe to not pull as much when hotter.

Cooler combustion chamber may still allow a few degree timing.
Whats nice is i can pull more timing in the iat correction table incase meth/water fails it will revert back to that.

Yep I see what you're saying. Will be interesting to see what water alone does here. For me I wanna advance the timing by 3 to 4 degrees since it makes around another 20 hp or so when I do

Guys running the snow kit are u using the largest single nozzle? Ive heard of guys running dual nozzles. Would it be beneficial running 2? I cant remember off hand what the largest one flows. My kit came with 3 nozzles and im running the largest on a sbe 5.3 with 15psi but plan for 20psi soon.

HOLY TECH lol Necromacing again but not as bad, this corpse is still juicy at least LOL

Was wondering where you guys get your methnaol injection power source and trigger source for voltage. I'm trying to install a simple snow boost switch and I'm trying to get an keyed ignition source under the hood to the relay that I'm going to run the switch and pump from.

Heres the simple DIY schmatic im referencing off of, but where should i get the switched source from?

I don't know how the snow performance switch works but if it's just a hobbs switch you don't need ignition/ keyed power . Just make sure its fused and it can be hot all the time . I run a hobbs switch that comes on 8 psi and powers a relay which runs the pump .

Your asking where a switched 12v power source is at? Just get your multimeter out... pop the top of the fuse box off... have your chick get in the car to turn the key on/off and start checking what circuits are constant 12v and what are switched 12v.... that’s what most people do
