Ls9 cam OR this.. Car is 3000lbs, sbe 4.8 turbo,th400, Circle d 2500 stall, 7875 on3, ls9 cam currently 327 rear gear. Car pulls super hard on the top end and is little doggy down low, question is would a 228 /228 .575 /.575, 112 "turbo" cam hurt this setup in regards to traction, or top end? Just looking for a little more low to mid range transient torque that this ls9 cam just doesn't seem to have. Reason I ask is because a local guy is wanting to sell for a good price but it just seems to big of a cam for this setup and need opinions ...
That converter is really hurting you. It's to tight for a little 4.8 that has no torque down low. I'd swap to like a 3500 and see how you feel.
I have a circle d triple disc 3000 stall but can push it up to 3900 and build 5 psi pretty quickly with my 6.0

it seems every cam with that kind of duration split (211/230 @ .050) makes poor low end power.
also agree that converter is tight. maybe try some low viscosity hygard to get a another ~200rpm flash from it?
anyways i'd be looking at cams like the triple 12 cam or a the small LJMS cam for that set up

Correct, the converter is a little tight. The owner of the car I don't think is going to wanna change it unfortunetly, maybe over the winter. This is RMVB th400 with a brake launching at 2800rpm it cut a 1.8 60ft but is obviously slower to spool, if it builds too much boost or the brake is set too high it just blows the tires off. It was hus first time out at the track so now were go8ng iver what needs to be done, car was trapping 7.66 at 98 in 1/8th with the terrible 60 ft times..just didn't know if a cam would help in a positive way to help get it going quicker in 1st. Top end pull is superb

Just my opinion, but I think the 228 will not improve the bottom end. It will improve the top end though. A 4.8 on that cam will likely be shifting in the 7500 RPM range, which is fine if the car is set up for it (Converter). If you're wanting to deal with the converter you have, I'd personally be shopping for something with about the same intake duration as the LS9, something in the 212 intake duration neighborhood.
