Default Custom AC line help, ideas??

So I just put a turbo kit on my camaro and I had to move my condenser further forward then I intended, so the hardlines running from the firewall to top port of condenser no longer reach.... my question is, I've found sites where i can find just the fittings but most likely will need flexible hose or braided line to tie the connections.... does anybody have experience or part numbers with doing something like this? Any help is much appreciated! Thanks

Do you have the A/C turbo kit from the recent Huron Speed group purchase? If so, that makes me a little worried as well since I have the same kit coming soon. Hopefully a simple fix can help us.

yes.... for whatever reason huron has the turbo flange further from the crank angled towards the radiator then other kits I've used.... it's made it rather difficult getting fans in without cutting the support.... I've used stock fans on other kits without too much issue.... hopefully someone here has advice for custom ac lines

Pretty crappy of Huron for picking that turbo flange angle. If it was straight up the turbo would still clear the balancer and modified stock fans would probably fit.

cool! Thanks for the input, pretty sure that's where I found the fittings, I may need to call them and explain exactly what I'm looking for.

yes the angle it's at is pretty unnessacery, unless it's to account for much larger turbos and for non ac users

I have never heard of this issue, nor any word from you for me to be able to assist you. Please email me at: Jon@huronspeed.com and I would be happy to assist, send me some photos and information on which turbo you are running, fans, etc.

The flange is angled for a reason, if pointed straight up then the flange will stick out further than required.

Shoot me an email please, happy to help however I cannot help if I am not informed of any issue.

Are you trying to use factory fans? The kit as noted is intended to use Derale #16925 pusher fans. If using something else other than intended, then I suppose modifications can be expected however no modifications like this should be required if used as intended with the correct components. I do not want people here getting the wrong impressions, so please clarify what all is being used so we can help.

The placement of the turbo allows us to run a variety of turbos as mentioned above, and the angle of the flange allows for that.

Wait....so the A/C kit doesn't allow the use of ANY puller fans, only pushers?

This kit is to be used with a pair of Derale #16925 pusher cooling fans. Noted on the website, available to add in with your kit. You are welcome to deviate from the parts it is intended to work with the kit but modifications may be required, which I believe is what you are seeing here.
Pair of 16925's work excellent and have zero issues fitting with the kit or cooling the set-up.

I'm not trying to use stock fans but I have in the past..... i bought thinner fans but they dont fit..... my concern is using pushers only, I've heard a lot of issues with that not being enough to keep it cool.... Jon i want to clarify I'm not bashing the kit, it's a great fitting kit, and great quality! my concern is keeping everything cool in 100* summers with my ac on...?

No issues with the 16925's keeping it cool! I would not recommend them if they didn't.

You are welcome to use something different if you desire as mentioned, and I can assist you with a custom AC line if you desire from one of the companies we work with to make AC lines for our Corvette kits. Shoot me an email and I would be happy to help!

I just don't want people getting the wrong impression on requiring unexpected modifications with the kit.

Thank you! Shoot me an email and I'd be happy to help out with whatever you need.

The Derale's do pretty good as long as you make sure to wrap your pipes, it stays just cool enough if it hangs in the 90s. Last year I would slowly over heat in stop and go traffic on stock rad with A/C on and fans both pushing on a 105* day. Didn't have my scanner plugged in but where the gauge hit I'm sure I was at the 240ish range.

I got a Be Cool rad and had to move stuff forward and down to make it clear. With moving stuff forward I had to extend the top line for the A/C. I'll snap a pic of it sometime this weekend if it ever clears up and quits raining. If you take your current line to any Hyd hose shop they should be able to put a 6" extension in there cheaply for you. Haven't charged my A/C system yet but driving around with the current setup in stop and go traffic I hit 175 where my first turn on temp is at and in traffic on a 80* day it has no problem bringing temp back down to 170.

if you're ac isn't charged then that comparison is basically useless. I've got 1 stock puller with a small puller next to it and 2 pushers in from of the condenser and she stays in the 170s maybe low 180s but as soon as I turn on the ac it'll immediately jumped to 195 and get in the low 200s. Turning the AC on is a killer.

Hydraulic House is a company I've used many times. They can modify or make about anything you need. Some factory line/hose assemblies are crazy expensive (>$600) and Hydraulic House will remake the assembly using your good hard parts for $60. Good luck.

A picture would make this a really good reference for all..

Most cities have a hydraulic shop, can't run much equipment without them, the only bit they may have to order is the hose with the liner that tolerates the R134,, but thats not a long term issue, I've also just had them make me an extension male to female to extend a hard line..
