Default Car won't 60, should I change rear gear?

Race weight is 4150ish 4l80 with a 2.10 1st gear. 28.2 tall Mickey radials and 3.5 rear gear. My 60 is always between 1.34 and 1.39. I should be in mid/high 1.2s with the power I'm making I would think. I'm thinking the tall 1st gear is killing me

Have to kill the power. That heavy, and that agressive of a first gear, especially on a radial is hard to make work.

Either need to change the first gear in the trans to a lower ratio, or kill power and ramp it back in.

Is there something limiting you from adding more power on the hit?

Subbed, running 3.50 gears in a 3000# car. Interested to see what's suggested, for future reference

How do you determine proper starting line ratio for a car that weighs what mine does?

At 4150lbs and 1400whp, your looking at ~130mph 1/8 trap. At 7K trap (before converter slip) equates to 4.56 rear gear and 9.58 SLR (closer where you should be). At 6% TC slip, trap rpm will be 7450 or use 4.30 gear for max 7K incl slip. If you up the whp, you'll need to lower (numerically) gear ratio to maintain target rpm with increased trap mph.

Just wondering, what is keeping you from taking weight out of the car? And don't give me the "it's a street car" excuse. lol

Im just saying that it seems like this is the answer to all of your problems.

Ummmm, it's a street car! Full interior, stereo system, sub box ect. Sees several car shows and cruise nights a week. That's why I kept the 4l80. I drive it everywhere

If traction isn't a problem, and you haven't left at higher than 12 psi, then why not keep adding boost at launch?

How in the hell is your car so heavy that blows me away. Mine is full interior , cage, iron block, heavy 9" and a th400 it weighs 3400lbs. I don't see adding a sub box and 4l80 making my car weigh so much. Add boost and timing at the rpm you're leaving the line at.

Not calling you a liar, but that makes no sense. If you have all that extra s$%@... seems it would be heavier. My car, which is the same as yours....but with me in it weighs 3750. And I have no cage or heavy 9". Maybe your scale is suspect.

the car is 3860 without me in it, its been weighed twice, lsx block, cage, 2 big turbos, piping. its not light. id have to have my converter loosened up. dont think i can get it to stall anymore than 43-4400 and 12 psi. im still kind of wondering if its something with the converter

I'm assuming that's on the transbrake?

My 6 speed turbo car weighs 3750 with me in it but it has stock kmember, stock 17 wheels, stock suspension except a fab 9". My auto car according to the scale at the dump is 3600 with me and 3400 w/out me. It has full light weight suspension, tubular kmember, light wheels, light carpet, no airbags, no heat or ac. Just the standard stuff I'd think a built car would have though?

LSX block is heavy so I can see that but damn she's a pig! If you want to gain more boost just pull timing at the 2 step rpm.
