Ever have any issues with the ring or pinion, doing that with the 9 inch? I'm really not sure WHAT to do, I've read of some of the Turbo Buick guys going faster than I probably ever will. Then others say the 8.8 isn't that great. Since I have no experience with either unit.....its tough to make up my mind.
Snapped the stock pinion yoke in half, but I honestly think it's cause a major driveshaft shopped screwed me and built the custom driveshaft too long and it bottomed out on launch. Once they fixed the driveshaft length and I went with a billet yoke, no issues. This was with a Detroit Trutrac inside. Personally I think 8.8s are good if the car is light. For a heavy 4th gen with alot of torque I'd stick with a solid axle rear unless it's going canyon carving.

I e got like $600 total into this 8.8 with dual calipers, 3.31/trak lok and 31 spline moser axles. If your worried about flex put a brace on it, like people do 9" rears also. Went 6.9 1/8 with a garbage 60' on my very first pass , beat on it for over a year no issues.

But isn't that the point? Anything will live with a garbage 60'. What kind of good 60' did you do with the 8.8 and at what weight?
