Default Best recipe for 800rwhp ? Turbo 5,3

So , first turbo build. Looking to make 800 wheel thru a 4l80. Gen 3 5.3 going in an 80 c10 sb. I was thinking 78/75 billet wheel from btr. Btr stage 3 turbo cam. (What ever springs go with cam)
Gap rings, head studs, ls9 gaskets, stock computer, Eli live . 80 lbs injectors, 93 w/meth. Can I achieve this with these parts or is there a better cam/ turbo choice (for around the same $$)?

I would do a Borg or the China Borg for that power level. I would also use different rods.

Just asking, why the stage 3 cam? What intake? How high do you plan on spinnin the engine? Just a dyno build or ? Mismatched parts, not running enough rpms, etc can make a combination very disappointing. Not being rude, just asking.

Well the gen 3 5.3 came with the truck, so I'm gonna rock it till it pops, then prob go gen 4 4.8/5.3. I fig we can use it to get everything up and running.

Not sure on intake yet. I'm not stuck on cam, just throwing it out there. Really looking for a recipe that works, hence the thread. I don't want to make the same mistakes I did building my car, buying things 2-3 times till I found things that worked. Lol. This is a street truck/drag strip on week ends .

800hp on gen3 rod is most likely never gonna happen. Just buy a 150 dollar set of gen4 rods and pistons since you are planning on having the pistons out to gap the rings. Then basically any stage 2 turbo cam and an s480. Thats ur basic 800hp build. 80s and meth is doable but why not spend the extra 100 bucks or so and just buy bosch 210s and run e85. Then you will have room to grow in the future.

Yes I agree. Any stage 2 turbo cam China or borg s480 a good fuel system with 210's. Gen 4 rods a must. If ur gapping rings gap them once on gen 4's and it will last awhile.

Thing is, there is 1 e85 station in mass. It's pretty far away. So it's 93 /meth and maybe some ms109 at the track.

Basically what everyone else said. Stage 1 or stage 2 cam from LJMS or BTR, stock truck intake, 80lb injectors for gas (127lb for e85) and a T6 borg warner s480 96mm exhaust 1.32 a/r. Tried and true combo with room to grow. Set up the hot side for the borg and when you are ready for more power with a better engine you can upgrade to a s485 or something that makes 1200 rwhp.

Heres my buddies stock bottom end gen 4 5.3 with a s485, he now has a GT55 94mm on it. Hes ran it hard all year lots of passes.

If you are set on 93 and meth I feel like you need to go to a larger injector then 80s. They are about maxed out at 800 tire unless ur just hammering with meth.

Other than the most HP at wot, what else are you looking for-drivability, spool time, etc-you prob have a heavy truck, obs a 6.0 would give you more
torq on the low end

It's my buddy's truck. He just wants something he can take out on the weekend and beat on. We have always wanted to turbo something . He wants it faster than my 6.0/whippled cutlass. Something we can drive to the track, run 10s and drive home with Ac on. Prob gonna tear motor down, new cam bearings, gen 4 piston /rods etc... turbo cam, s480 see where we end up.

Ok so update. What's a good piston /rod combo for my goals . We are going to drop block off at machine shop and have them build short block
. Hot tank, new rods/ pistons, gap rings
Cam bearings etc. I saw some new gen 4 rods w/ Arp bolts for $325 on eBay. Should I consider these? Or is there a better option?

See if you can find a set of rods with oem bolts. They should be less than $325. Rod bolts aren't the problem with these engines. Wiseco is a pretty commonly used piston.

All I've found so far is the new rods w/ arp. Same guy has piston/rod/arp for $499 with bearings
