Default Aem wideband 30-4110 / hptuners - erratic a/f numbers all over on scanner

im sure this is a basic question but I haven't been able to find what I'm looking for.

I have the 2 hooked up and while recording the scanner shows the a/f numbers bouncing all over.

How do I resolve this to verify they read the same?

I've researched this for a while now and can't find a solution.

My tuner says the figure should stay solid like the gauge but they don't use the aem wideband.

I originally had the wideband going to terminal 1 on the EIO and I've grounded 5 to a bolt under the shifter. Last night I grounded terminal 6, ran a new ground from the battery to the grounding point at the shifter, ran another ground from the aem harness to the same location under the shifter. Still having the same issue.

Im completely new to hp tuners and trying to get this going. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have the correct information in the scanner as far as voltage and offset for the wideband?

I think you can turn the sample rate down. Ask over in the pcm section, there's some very savvy hptuners users in there

I used the info already provided by hptuners for this wideband. trying to get it to have a solid number so I can adjust the offset if it needs it which, from what I'm guessing, it does.

Sadly you can't adjust sample rate in the external inputs

with that said, what do everyone else's reading look like? Is this normal or should it be reading like the gauge does. My goes doesn't bounce very much at all.

Does HPT not have a digital input like EFI Live? Gets rid of having to mess with offset/ground differences. If not, I'd also check the grounding in the system, i.e. do all the factory ground locations have paint under the ring lug or bare metal and is there a solid ground from chassis to block. I've helped a couple cars by adding a better gauge ground from chassis to block.

i had grounds running from everywhere last night. From battery, Ecu ground, stud on engine, ground that feeds gauge, etc. no change. No paint under any grounding points.

How erratic are we talking here? 14.58-14.62 or 13.22- 16.88?

My only wideband is the innovate scg1 i believe, wideband and boost controller together, and my readings are nearly the same. 1 thing obvious is the gauge reads 14.7 where the scanner will show 14.75. The scanner has an extra decimal place, which i believe can be changed. I did have to play with the settings using the tuning schools wideband offset sheet.

I am looking for a wideband to use between other vehicles and have heard great things about the aem

ill post a log tonight when I get home. Gauge was reading 11.6 and the log was 8.xx to 10.xx?

the sensor is approx 10" past the turbo (s475) with a full exhaust. Cutout is under driver and is closed.

I have all vbands on turbo system sealed with rtv sealant except the the turbo discharge. I'll seal it up and give it a try.

sounds like the offset in the scanner channels might be wrong.

I actually gave up on the aem in my turbo truck for a similar reason. went to the ballenger afr 500 and never looked back.

I hope I attached my log correctly. It averages 9.62 across all the points.

It ranged from 8.84 to 11.32 as shown in the log.

Is it normal for the numbers to be all over like this?

Do I just use 9.62 to adjust it up to 11.6 or whatever the gauge would say?

I have an LM-2 and after having issues with it I bought the aem as everyone seems real happy with it plus the cost helped. Now I think I may be regretting it.
