Default Twin turbo exhaust note.

I just recently fired up my new twin set up & to my surprise the exhaust note sounds like complete ***! Almost like an exhaust leak & glass packs, only there is no leak. Is this common on smaller turbos with open down pipes? My old single S475 sounded great but, this is almost embarrassing cruising around. Wandering if a pair of the mini bullet mufflers would take the loud poppy sound out. Any ideas, thanks?

What’s the setup and are you running full exhaust?

61mm turbos with .82 a/r housings. Straight downpipes that exit each side of the bumper. Motor is a forged 347 with an Isky 218/218 cam.

Exactly what it sounds like!!! It's not terrible at idle or wot, just at cruising speed & light throttle.

Mine are obnoxious... Sounds similar to a low compression open header car.

Best bet IMO is dumps with a quiet exh system of some sort. I put a little 2” “H” pipe between my 3” down pipes with 2 3” dump valves. Then run a single stock 2” pipe all the way back to a 4 cylinder mustang axle back system. Stock muffler, tail pipe, and all. Super quiet, cheap, and light weight compared to a large full exhaust system.

Don't want none of this 4 cyl mustang...

I might see if can fit some sort of resonators in there to just take the edge off some. I really don't want to re-do the whole exhaust, so I will just live with it. Seems like its the norm with small twins.

They are ebay cast wheel GT3582's. No pull vids, these lil bastards come on hard & I have to DRIVE the car when they do. Manual valve body trans so I need both hands. Havent dyno'd it with the twins & don't really plan to. I had my tuner tweak the tune a bit from the single set-up after doing a couple logged street pulls.

Awesome to hear, I have a the vs racing billet gt3582’s with stock cam and stall (80e), and a trans brake in my 99ws6 that’s about ready to come out for the first time, I haven’t found much online about gear billet ones, always asking around haha. THank you!

I think you'll like them man! I thought about eventually buying some billet wheels for mine but, honestly they spool so fast that I will probably leave them alone. Also like the fact that I can footbrake almost 5lbs of boost on the 2500 two step.

I'm running the same, but with 64mm billet wheels and the .63 housings. Def. should have went with the .82 housings. These suckers are violent... even with s 2.73 gear. Not sure if it's the converter (ptc 10") or what but they seem done around 17lbs. Also don't run an intercooler so there's that. Let us know how yours work at higher boost levels...

Will do! Yeah the housings are t3 .82's , they look tiny though!! I've done a couple pulls starting in second gear on just the 10lb gate psi & blows the tires around 45-50mph. Boost gauge was reading 9.8lbs when I finally hooked in 3rd. Gonna see what it will do at the track on gate pressure & start cranking on the controller from there. Probably wont go any higher than 15lbs since Im limited with a 98 ecm with a 2bar os for the time being

I have the t3 .82 versions also. I got 2# @ 1900 on the 2 step foot brake also, with 2# gate springs. So i think you will be right, they will be violent. I’m building my down pipes now, and it for sure sounds nothing like my single billet 78 setup.

I’ve got an exile msnbc in the t/a. My nova has a new never used boost/pulse leash combo. Debating on putting that in the t/a since I’m going to an aftermarket ecu in the nova

My car was obnoxious with bullet mufflers on it. I have 440 cubic inches and a big solid roller cam. I cut them out and used magnaflow oval mufflers and it's still loud but it mellowed it out and took the loud crack out of it.
