So far I am working on a 1998 Trans Am. Mostly collecting parts as overtime from work allows. Last year I picked up a 5.7 for 400 bucks with a broken intake and exhaust springs. Swapping in a t56 that I am converting from a corvette since it has the triple syncroes. It is getting a Ssr mainshaft since it has a 32 spline count and works with a Turbo 400 shaft as well.

You do realize that the 5.7 ls1 won't hold that much boost. That's why everybody started going 5.3 or 6.0. The 5.7 will be good for around 750 hp with good tuning. Some will say more hp with tuning others will say less hp.

Its all in the prep. Its gonna hold the same power as a 5.3 or 6.0 on the internals. The blocks themselves are fine up to 900 before you need to start gusseting things. Gapping your rings out for boost off the bat goes a long way to help Is this the best engine to use, nope. I agree, but I couldnt find an L33 at the time, so this was the good deal i found at the time.

Corvette trans modding for fbody engine mount with ssr mainshaft, and z06 1 piece counter shaft



Mistakenly bought wrong input shaft. You can see the difference on the end of the shaft between double and triple syncros. Trying to keep my research up along with buying parts

why I decided on this one. Wanted to see what a magic stick 3 spec might do with boost. This one is from Elgine, and has inder .600 in lift, bit it should be faurly similar. There has been a few guys try the magic stic with boost and weirdly enough liked it.
