My buddy has an ATS-V and it blew my mind with how well it handles and the power that little TT V6 makes.
Would definitely own one.

To the part of plugs being hard to get to and higher compression. If you can’t tune on higher compression run lower if you are not a wiz at tuning? If your plugs are hard to get to you didn’t think hard enough about your set up. my #1 priority on my hot side was using stock plug wires and ease of access to the plugs.
this.

Pumps die, filters clog, injectors fail, boost spikes, voltage drops, etc..
This is exactly what i'm talking about. Well said.

yes. yes. and yes.

Your response to my comment leads me to believe you put a lot more thought into your builds than some people here. There is a steep learning curve to this sort of work, and most newbies try to skip some steps. The results are generally blown motor threads.

Spend the money on Wideband, fuel pressure and knock logging.

Doesn't mean that you can ignore good practices. For example, I burnt through a piston probably because of an alky mist system failure at 28PSI. Wideband log told me after the piston was toast.

see I like to keep things simple. Examples.
I don’t like nitrous. Because you have to rely on filling a bottle.
I don’t like meth injection. You have to fill the bottle and you could have a system failure. Then you have a motor failure.
I don’t like e85. Because I have to find special stations to get fuel.

I guess im just a simple kind of guy. If I can’t make the power I need to go as fast as the goal I may have, I start getting ingenuitive. I start looking at ways to free up friction. Lighten things up. Make things more efficient.......oops, I’m getting off topic. Lol.

I have a mast ecm . I really like they way they set it up . Any knock it will pull timing. One time I had a suspect tank of gas, and it would pull 6* of timing @ WOT. I have fuel pressure, wideband, and a boost gauge on the pillar. Everything else I can see on my laptop. I usually keep an eye on actual timing and IATs

Exactly why I like to use E85 with a single large external fuel pump. No second pump or meth pump to worry about failing. I’m new to tuning myself started at 8 psi, then 10, now going to 12 and haven’t hurt anything yet although I know it’s coming lol.

Generally, I agree that simpler could be better.

However simple is great if it meets your goals. For example if your goals are to get groceries, a stock, N/A, ford focus is simple. Forced induction by definition is not simple.
If your goal is to run 6 lbs of boost, then you've already chosen to complicate some things like turbo setup, wastegates, boost control, AFRs, tune etc, but you can still keep the pump gas simple.
If your goal is to run 28 lbs of boost in a daily driver, then you need a little more complexity (e85 not available everywhere).

yes im simple. 650rwhp for me is plenty. I’m just looking to run in the 10’s and be able to drive it anywhere. I’ve got the anywhere part down. Running in the 10’s, well I gotta get to the track and see. I’m on 6lbs right now but I turned it up a little last night. Trying to get to 8-10 and leave it alone. Im not working with an unlimited budget or time so I need this engine to last until I put a built one in. I don’t have time right now either to be swapping engines. I have a aluminum block 5.3 that’s complete, that I have to go through and put rods and pistons in and a few other little things. Then I should be able to lean on it more. Or not. But have a bigger safety margin

You're not giving yourself enough credit. 650 rwhp is a great accomplishment. 10s is a great goal for a daily. You're not simple. You picked and chose what to complicate and what not to complicate. That's not easy.
