Sorry, I always try to turn everything into a drag car application. Drag radial of the same size will give you a lot better traction from a stop, but I get that's not everyone's goal. I even ran the 235 555r and was really impressed. You're right though, you'll find the weak link quick in the drivetrain with a drag radial. Prob best to stay away unless the rear is up to snuff.

I've run factory bottom ends on many builds. Even a gen3 motor will take 20+lbs. But I hear ya! No reason to rush in a break things.

I run a 9" ford/4 link in a 1926 Model T.... couldn't go around a corner if my life depended on it!

Hi,
upped the duty cycle from 45 to 50 in 4th gear, cortex boost gauge measured peak 8.2 psi, though on log shown 1.49 max on map..
I was only on that pull for approx 3kpm to 4.? Rpm ish
the boost controller I set to overboost limit at 8 so maybe the cortex is faster reading than the pcm??
or do I have a discrepancy between my map and cortex gauge.?
cortex take off is at back of manifold on brake boost line, map is on stock push in point on front of ls2 manifold.
Maybe map sensor leaking? It's just push fit in?
Now got signs of shitty v band clamp leak on exhaust as well....
keeping it all rich atm

Hi,
wondering if a meth 50/50 mix would give me some safety in my compact engine bay...
when I bought my Cortex ebc I also bought the meth module just in case I needed it(and I'm in UK so delivery From US etcetc)
only on 7 to 8 psi now but new sticky tyres on the way and may push to 10 ish with meth mix....
My intercooler is eBay 3".
if I did it what kit would I need with the cortex And meth module already in my car?
regards
gav

Never hurts. I piece together parts as the kits are overpriced and then some. Its a pump, nozzle, tank and hose. I also like tanks with large lids and decent capacity.

I'm not familiar with your module at all, so can't be of help there.

At your boost levels a simple on/off switch of some sort is all that's needed. 5-7gph nozzle and -30 washer fluid. 2 bottles of "heet" in 1 gal of -30 fluid gets ya around 50/50.

Maybe time for that 50/50 and maybe reasons for random knock at high rpm

So, seeing this picture, could meth/water mix help?
would it be ok to run it rpm based so I get it to come on progressively from say 3000rpm+ as this seems where most of my knock comes from...? Any consequences of doing that? My cortex could progressively control 2d with rpm and boost as well.

Can’t really tell what I’m looking at. Is that pitting and metal erosion from detonation? Or just deposits and crap on the pistons from pump fuel and running on the rich side?

Either way I suppose the answer is yes. Water meth will help with all of that. If you are seeing a lot of knock at 3k *ish. Then drop timing a couple degrees there.

I'm running some red line SI-1 through the system to see if that reduces/removes the carbon first. Think it may be pre ignition? As seems at odd times from 3k upwards mostly when not even in boost?
thinking the meth water will prevent it happening again if I spray even out of boost?

Water will “steam clean” the combustion chambers and ring lands over time for sure. If you aren’t in boost its likely “phantom knock”. And that’s likely just carbon build up. My water/meth motors look almost new when you tear them down.

FWIW , I don't think you will need to spray out of boost , I was thinking the same thing when I started tuning and logging my combo . As said, take a couple degrees out in the areas where you currently get knock , do some WOT /boost pulls with conservative timing , probably need to fine tune the AFR anyways. After you've put a gallon or 2 through it you can retry adding timing back in and see how it goes . That is exactly how I did mine and was able to add timing back in. Could always pull an easy plug and scope again also . 625ml/min 10gal/hr on at 4-5 lbs has caused no hesitation or stumble for yrs , recently added another 375ml/ min pre turbo on at same boost - no issues. I use a home maid 50/50 mix
