Should it be clattering at this low boost?

Cracks me up when people say "put the car away for winter" I don't "love" Texas but it's nice we car drive anything during the winter. Glad you fixed your issue, keep an eye on those plugs. Any pics of your boost setup?

The plugs all looked perfect. I don’t have e85 around here. I’m gonna add a couple degrees back and see how it does.
Dumb question. How do I know my tq peak without a Dyno?
With the timing set like it is, lower, it killed power at lower boost levels. So now I should be able to get some of that back. 2 degrees timing I could feel the difference.

I don't understand how the plugs can look perfect if you can hear the detonation repeatedly.
For torque see the 2nd paragraph.

ok. I will this evening. To be honest, i looked at the but didnt really look real close with say a magnifying glass or a light. So its possible you may see something i didnt but ill get close up pics and inspect them well. I guess what i meant is the color looked good. no visible damage. no cracked porcelain etc. I'll inspect closer this evening, after i turn the timing up to about 18-20 degress.
I kid i kid.

You'll basically take the first 1000 RPM after hitting peak boost and designate that as the peak torque range. So if your gate opens at 3000 RPM, then 3000-4000 is your peak torque range.
After that you can slowly start ramping timing back in. Lots of ways to do it, but I do 1 degree per 1000 RPM.
Others will do it differently. I only use it as a general rule. An N/A cam like yours will shift it a little higher.

No sure fire way to tell. Peak cylinder pressure (which is what you're tuning around, not EXACTLY the same as peak torque) usually occurs at the lowest RPM that you have peak boost (in a turbo setup).

I'm with you, although I'm in the Ohio valley and we pretty much always have some bitter cold, and some snow over the winter. Just because it's winter, doesn't mean one is unable to drive their car. As long as it's not snowing, I drive mine year round, regardless of temperature.

Judge me all you want the GTO isn’t my only vehicle and isn’t my only hobby. I have perfect attendance for 20 years and still went to work when we got 17” of snow. I just prefer not to expose the rare low mileage gto to the salt and risk some dumbo that can’t drive on ice or snow crashing into it. Why do people get bothered by how others do things when it has no effect on them?

This was from March, but yea, gets chilly/snowy here. Was 20 degrees the other morning and it's still a month from being winter. But about the vid that OP posted, I can't hear the clatter, but if you are hearing it, that is absolute murder on bearings/pistons. I really am surprised that it hasn't come apart yet.

I've been running the 6s (TR6/4177) with good luck up to about 15psi. Stock compression 5.3 on 93 **** pump with wiper fluid and 15psi 78/75 VS turbo. Now wondering if I should be running 7s... hm. I spend alot of time out of boost as its a street car so I didnt want to go too cold on the plugs.
