Surge valve not opening
12-13" of vac, it doesnt open. It came with a second spring, but it felt stiffer. Anyone
ever just cut the spring until it could pull open with the vac. source avail. Not sure if there
is some other issue or just to stiff a spring. I had taken it apart and the piston seemed to
move ok.
over 25" of vac, the valve doesn't move. When I had it apart it moved fine, prob something
is machined off, gonna send it back.

If blower, then it needs to open fast/easy.
If turbo...less of a concern, but if you want it to be functional then it still needs to be capable of opening.
in limp mode, rev and 2nd. Still goes 1' for/back then locks up. Its got to come out,
I was only trying to get it in my other bay where the lift is, guess I need to call in some
muscle (pushers), lol. I'll just stick my old 400 in until I feel like tearing it down.
Pulling the pan off the trans today, hoping maybe the 1st/rev band pin is holding
it, if not it has to come out. When I built it, it went together OK, was a little tight, but
I convinced myself it was OK, because I wanted this project running-my bad, lol.
Back on the valve, the spring that came with it was so strong it kind of jammed the
piston in the closed position, I found a weaker spring in my pile of parts (sometimes
its good I don't throw out stuff, lol) and with my hand vac it opens now-I will just have to
play with springs until I get the desired opening.
I built this one years ago, now just use it as a stand by if I temp need a 400. The converter
is a 13", now I am a little worried it might not clear the turbo cross over pipe-$hit just keeps
snow balling, lol. Beer time tonight, had enough of cars..
