Default 90* Coupler on Throttle body question

Would having a 90* Coupler on a 102mm throttle body for my intercooler be an issue? someone had pointed out that it might "collapse" or keep popping off due to pressure/boost since its a 90?

to weld a 4" 90* elbow to then reduce it to 3" for intercooler pipe seems like a run around but if its a must i will do it. i was just wondering before i do it.

You mean like thousands of people have used for years without issue ?

I've been running a rubber elbow off my TB for years without issue that I can tell.
I did however have a guy tell me to make a metal one because the rubber will balloon under pressure but I've seen nothing like that up to 13 psi and he was running a procharger so maybe there's a difference.

I have run a 90 coupler on my throttle body for ever and never had an issue. I will warn ahead of time to not over tighten it. It will egg the throttlebody lip if you get crazy. My buddy did that. Kept blowing off so he tightened it more. Duh.

It's easy to do, especially with people's obsession with big T-bolt clamps. It just makes it too easy for them to **** it all up when really there is no need at all.

I've never had one collapse and the one I purchased from the attached website looks to be a higher quality piece.
At some point I would like to do a fabricated elbow and ditch my MAF but that seems to be more of a cosmetic want than an actually necessity.

Is this an engine mounted supercharger? if so, I could see a thin, flimsy elbow collapse especially if the air filter is a restriction. if this is the case, then I agree you should use a metal elbow. if its under boost like being blown into it on the other hand (turbo/centri blower) how would it collapse?

The answer think is two fold, I think the thought is the rubber elbow could collapse under high vacuum under deceleration per say while under boost it could balloon and pop off the TB.
I've seen neither happen with mine, I think this is possible with cheap elbows.

Well if they had say like an LSA supercharger, it would be sucking on that elbow and intake tract, instead of blowing through with positive pressure like a turbo or centrifugal supercharger.
