Default air flow sensor distance

someone pointed out today that my air flow sensor was too close to the intake butterfly on my twin turbo ls1 (4"away) !!!!!!!!!! was told it will not give a true reading so what do you guys think ??
was also advised as it will be difficult to mount elsewhere and to go maffless instead so again any input will be much appreciated

I like the fab work, but all I can do is wish you the best of luck.

Blow-through MAF (in a tapered housing) with that intake/TB combo?
Hopefully your tuner is good.

Are you having issues with it? I've always read 4-6" from the TB. If you're not having issues, then I wouldn't worry about it. If you are, go maf-less (SD).

That’s an odd looking MAF sensor. Never seen one like that

Yeah, that truck is awesome.

That said, as others have suggested, if its a problem, ditch it and go SD. If its working, then its only a problem in someones mind

Dump the MAF.

But if you must use a MAF....they must be placed in smooth airflow, ideally in a straight line of a few inches either side.

Which totally rules out the possibility on your setup,

as said, the maf is just correlating air flow to fueling. it does like smooth transfer of air across it but if tuner can use it then it works, you dont have any other placement with those charge pipes, the only improvement that could be done would be to join the 2 charge pipes a few inches lower and run a larger 4" single up to the throttle body. the larger charge pipe would allow the maf to sample a greater area.

also killer truck man, love the set up
