Exhaust manifold bolts

What is the general consensus now? Just torque them down dry, anti seize, or blue loctite

new, grade 10.9 with 13mm heads, dry, in sequence starting in the center and alternate working to ends of the head

Like Truckdoug said... Plus, After I drive the car around and it's had a chance to completely cool down, I go back and retighten all of them since it seems that when the engine heats up, it squishes the gaskets a little bit and after cooling down , there may be a miniscule gap between the block, gasket and header flange. If the bolts are in anyway loose at that point, the vibrations can start them backing out, which allows gas pressure to escape, which can compromise the gasket sealing quality. My take on it anyway.

Studs are the way to go.

Studs are cheap, definitely the way to go, especially for turbo setups.

Don't loctite your bolts in.

I just use stock bolts with the 13mm head and GM multi layer gaskets. No antisieze or anything.
0 issues.

I can’t get my drivers side manifold off if I have studs. Tried it. So maybe FTW for some......

Thats the issue we ran into trying studs, had more combos they didnt work than worked in. When they work they are great for sure but unfortunately we couldnt use them very often.
